She married to William WARD II on 4 Aug 1679 in Marlborough, Middlesex, MA.(3) Children were: Colonel William WARD III, Bethiah WARD, Nahum WARD , Elisha WARD, Bathseba WARD , Gershom WARD.

She married to Gershom EAMES before 1679.(4)

bullet Agnes became a member in 1636 in Salem, Essex, MA.(5) She sold house and land in 1680 in Salem, Essex, MA. (6) She died before 1689.(7) She had an estate probated on 26 Nov 1689.(8)

She married to John "Father Woodbury" WOODBURY about 1608 in England. I assumed that they were married about one year befor ethe birth of their first child. Her full name may have been "Agnes NAPPER," according to the IGI. On 18 May 1631, John was made freeman (231).

Roger Conant became a well-represented and liked Governor of Cape and. He was instrumental in establishing the first permanent settlement and plantation in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He engaged John WOODBURY, John Balch and Peter Palfrey to help him establish a plantation in Naumkeag. John and the other men were known to be "honest and prudent men" (231).

Genealogist Perley Derby notes the gap in ages between John's youngest child (Humphrey born 1609/1610) and the baptism of his third child (Hannah baptized 1636) and speculates that there may well be more children (374).

Some less reliable sources mention other wives (Elizabeth TENNEY and Joannah HUMPHREY) but not Derby (374) that seems the more reliable.

In 1635, William Woodbury, Roger Conant and John Batch, received grants of land totaling 1000 acres between the Bass River and Wenham Lake where they soon settled. These three are referred to as "the old planters" and "the fathers of Beverly" and John as "Father Woodbury" (231, 234).

He held several different offices in Salem and twice represented it in the General Court (231). Children were: John WOODBURY, Hannah WOODBURY, Abigail WOODBURY, Peter WOODBURY, Peter WOODBURY, Amoas WOODBURY, Agnes WOODBURY, Ann WOODBURY.

bullet Ann moved after 1673 to Branford, New Haven, CT.(18) Moved after the death of her husband Roger.

She married to Roger TYLER about 1656.(19) This is a very rough estimate. I assumed that they were married one year before the birth of the earliest known birth of their children. On 12 May 1638, the General Court in Hartford empowered Peter and Francis TYLER to make sale of the house, barn, and half acre lot belonging to their father Charles "who had been for a considerable time and still remains in a distracted man" for the payment of his debts. Charles apparently suffered from mental illness for the remaining 30 years of his life. Children were: Charles TYLER , Peter TYLER, Francis TYLER , George TYLER, Roger TYLER .

bullet Catherine

She married to James BLOOD. (41) Children were: James BLOOD.

She married to Richard CLAPP about 1568.(45) Children were: Nicholas CLAPP, Eyde CLAPP, CLAPP.

bullet Christina was born on 27 Mar 1857 in Undersåker, Åre, Jämtland, Sweden. (46)(47) She emigrated in 1882.(48) (49) SAG (531) said he emigrated in 1883, a year off from church records, but that could have been a rounding error because SAG based there date was a calculation. She was a Farmer in 1900 in New Sweden, Aroostock, ME. (48) She died on 6 Sep 1921 in Stockholm, Aroostook, ME. (50) She was buried in Rista Road Cemetery, New Sweden, Aroostock, ME.(51)

She married to Jan (John) Peter MAGNUSON in 1882.(46) 1880 according to 1910 census (393). According to the Gustuf Adolf Church records (132), they emigrated in 1883. This cannot be right because Carl was born in ME in 1882. They must have come by 1882 as cited by the 1900 and 1910 Census records. It was 1873 and according to the 1920 census.

John and Kristina joined the Gustaf Adof Church in New Sweden, the records from which are a prime reference source (132). They may have been married in that church or back in Sweden. John owned his home outright in 1900 (392). By 1910, when John and Chritine were 64 and 54, they had moved in with their daughter Annie and her husband _oulof Muttsin or Germany. By 1910, one of the children (not Annie) had died (393). The 1901 Census said that John was born in Sweden and his native language was English. Assume that that is an error.

They settled in the town of New Sweden, Aroostook, Maine in the far northern area of the state. The neighboring towns of New Sweden and Stockholm had very large Swedish populations and actively tried to entice Swedes to immigrate and settle the area. Encouragement also came from relatives who had already settled the area. Looking through the 1900 and 1910 census records gives the impression that half of the town was born in Sweden. The immigrants lived in their own neighborhoods as well. Children were: Carl Oskar MAGNUSON, Aura Mathilda MAGNUSON, Wilhemine (Annie) MAGNUSON , Andus Wilhelm MAGNUSON, Maria Elizabeth MAGNUSON, George Herman MAGNUSON .

bullet Cicely signed a will on 28 Nov 1661 in Dorchester, Suffolk, MA. (52)(53) She died on 3 Dec 1661 in Dorchester, Suffolk, MA.(54) (55) Stearns (674) says it was 3 Nov 1661.

She married to John MAUDESLEY before 1635 in England. (56)(57) (58) Richardson (448) and Stlies (633) claim that John married first Elizabeth, then Cicely, but Savage thinks that they are the same person. Richardson provides unlikely birth dates for the children to support such a marriage order. A Genealogical Sketch argues for Cicely and cites her will which is signed Sisily Modsly. John is among signatures on a document establishing the first free school in Dorchester (448). Children were: Thomas MOSELEY, John MOSELEY , Elizabeth MOSELEY.

bullet Deliverance

She married to John ATCHISON before 1673 in Hadley, Hampshire, MA.(59) A possible point of confusion is that the Ancestral File has his son John married to Dorcas BURT. Children were: Elizabeth ATCHISON, Mary (or Mercy) ATCHISON, John ATCHISON, Benomi ATCHISON.

bullet Dorothy was born about 1632.(60) She signed a prenuptial agreement on 23 Mar 1671/72 in Duxbury, Plymouth, MA. (61) William and Dorothy signed a prenuptial agreement. Upon William's death, Dorothy receives his house and land until her death, when they are returned to his heirs. This was ordered by the court 8 Jun 1672.

She married to William TUBBS in 1672 in Duxbury, Plymouth, MA. (62) Judson mistakingly states that the couple were married on 23 Mar 1672 when that is the day she later says that they signed a prenuptial agreement. Children were: Benjamin TUBBS, Joseph TUBBS.

She married to William SOANES before 1668.(63) Children were: Mary SOANES.

bullet Dorothy

She married to John SMITH. Children were: Lawrence SMITH.

bullet Edith was born in 1603 in England.(64) (65) Based upon age at death. She became a member member of Wenham church before 1648 in Wenham, Essex, MA. (66) She signed a will on 14 Feb 1677. (67) She died on 27 Jun 1678 in North Beverly, Essex, MA. (68)(69) (70)(71) (72) She emigrated.

She married to Richard DODGE between 1629 and 1631 in England. I assume that Richard and Edith met after arrival in the Colony and were married before the birth of their eldest child. After arriving in America, John stayed a short time with his brother William in Salem, then settled in what is now North Beverly in a locality called "Dodge Row" near Wenham Lake. The DODGEs for at least four generations rarely engaged at anything besides farming. The wanted to posses and improve the soil. They were hard workers and seldom irreligious; rarely office seekers, and were a temperate set of people. He was a contributor to Harvard College. Children were: John DODGE, Mary DODGE, Richard DODGE, Sarah DODGE, Samuel DODGE, Edward DODGE, Edward DODGE, Joseph DODGE.

bullet Eleanor was born about 1547.(73)

She married to John Lawrence WHITBREAD. (74) Children were: Alice WHITBREAD.

bullet Elinor was born in 1599 in England.(75) (76) Pierce says she was born in 1599 and acknowledges that some sources incorrectly cite age at death as 54, rather than 60. This is supported by Worcester County history (400). Those claiming 1605 include the SHATTUCK Memorials (108), Savage (475) and Pope (471). She emigrated in Apr 1635 to New England.(77) (78)(30) The Shattuck Memorials (108) say John and Elinor deported from Ipswich, England, suggesting that the family came together, however, according to the Winthrop Society (086), John left London without his wife in the Elizabeth and Ann with their children John (11), Richard (9), Nathaniel (8), Thomas (6), and Jonathan (1). They left in Mid-May so they probably arrived in late June. They settled in Watertown. She died on 11 May 1659 in Watertown, Middlesex, MA. (79)(80) (81)(82) (83)

She married to John WHITNEY after May 1619 in Isleworth, Middlesex, England.(84) (79) (85) All of the WHITNEYs in America are descended from John who settled in Watertown, MA or another WHITNEYs who settled in CT. Savage says John was a man of property and religious character. Children were: Mary WHITNEY, John WHITNEY, Richard WHITNEY, Nathaniel WHITNEY, Thomas WHITNEY, Mary WHITNEY, Jonathan WHITNEY, Deacon Joshua WHITNEY, Caleb WHITNEY, Benjamin WHITNEY.

bullet Elizabeth was buried on 18 Nov 1599 in Stotfold, Bedford, England. (86)(87) (88)

She married to Michael SPENCER in 1563 in England.(89) (90)(91) (92)(93) Only Richardson records the Whitbread surname. Genealogist Harold Spencer notes that there has been some controversy as to which of Michael SPENCER's wife bore which children. Spencer notes the discovery (by 1977) of the 1562 burial of Agnes. Children were: John SPENCER, Michael SPENCER, Ann SPENCER, Joan SPENCER, Alice SPENCER, Thomas SPENCER, Catherine SPENCER, Gerard SPENCER, Richard SPENCER.

bullet Elizabeth was born in 1605 in England.(94) She emigrated in 1635. Came in the Blessing.

She married to John HOLLY.

bullet Elizabeth died on 11 Oct 1713.(95) (Savage has doubts about this date)

She married to Judge Captain Nathaniel THOMAS on 3 Nov 1696 in Boston, Suffolk, MA. (96) Elizabeth was the widow of Captain William Cody but the marriage certificate says Eliz. Dolberry. They were married by Cotton Mather. A person by the same name was a witness on the will of David HAMILTON Sr. in Sharon, CT.

bullet Elizabeth

She married to John WINSLOW before 1664. (97)

She married to Joseph CLARK in 1585 in Hingham, Norfolk, England. Children were: Mary CLARK.

bullet Elizabeth

She married to Reverand William SARGENT before 1596.(99) I assumed they were married at least a year before the birth of their first (known) child. Children were: Andrew SARGENT.

She married to Nicholas HUETT on 30 Jul 1607 in Meare, Somerset, England. (100)

bullet Elizabeth was born in 1613.(101) She died on 9 Dec 1700 in Marlborough, Middlesex, MA.(102) She was buried in Spring Hill Cemetery, Marlborough, Middlesex, MA. (103) He lyes the body of Elizabeth Ward. The servant of the Lord. Deceased in 87 year of her age, December the 9 in the year of our Lord 1700.

She married to Deacon William WARD I about 1638.(104) I assumed that they were married one year prior to the birth of their first son. Also, like Ward (696), I will assume that all of the children born in England were born to the first wife and all of the children born in America were born to Elizabeth. It is not known were they were married or where there first children was born, but Ward (696) suspects Sudbury. Children were: Hannah WARD, Samuel WARD, Elizabeth WARD, Increase WARD, Hopestill WARD, William WARD II, Eleazer WARD, Bethiah WARD.

bullet Emiline was born between 1820 and 1811 in NH.(105) Her age was 4_ [illegible on census form].

She married to Lyman BROWN between 1850 and 1860. It would appear that LYMAN married Emiline between the two censuses.

bullet First wife died about 1623 in England.(106)

She married to Francis SPRAGUE about 1614 in England. (107) This date is Anderson's estimate based on an estimated date of marriage. Children were: Ann SPRAGUE, Mercy SPRAGUE, John SPRAGUE.

bullet First wife died in Dec 1645.(108) Probably died after the birth of Gershom. Stearns (673) says his first wife died in 1636. If that his true, than Stearns is probably correct that she had only 4 children, yet the marriage date for Rebecca seems solid so who would have had the children born 1636 to 1645?

She married to Rev. Peter HOBART in 1627 in England.(109) (110) Of Margaret, the famous Rev Cotton Mather once said, "Yet by the blessing of God on [Peter's] diligence and by the frugality of his virtuous consort, he lived comfortably." Children were: Reverand Joshua HOBART, Reverand Jeremiah HOBART , Captain Josiah HOBART, Elizabeth HOBART, Ichabod HOBART, Reverand Nehemiah HOBART, Hannah HOBART, Hannah HOBART, Bathsheba HOBART, Israel HOBART, Jael HOBART, Rev. Gershom HOBART.

bullet First wife

She married to John "Father Woodbury" WOODBURY before 1608.(111) In his Great Migration Begins, Anderson examines and rejects the claim by some geologiesits that the mother of John's son Humpjrey WOOBBURY was Joanna Humphrey. "A John WOODBURY married Joanna Humphrey on 21 June 1596 at Burlescombe, Devonshire, and this has been thought to be a marriage of the immigrant, and also an explanation for the given name of his first son. But this wife was buried on 5 June 1601, and so, unless Humphrey WOODBURY grossly underestimated his own age in his depositon of 1680, Joanna (Humphrey) WOODBURY cannot be his mother. In any case, this marriage seems much too early for the immigrant. Raymon Meyers Tingley gave a name and exact date for the second marriage of John WOODBURY, but as with all items attributable only to this author, we should meet these data with extreme skepticism. The mother of Humphrey WOODBURY was certainly not the mother of the rest of John WOODBURY's children. But did the immigrant have two wives or three? The last three children of John WOODBURY were born in a span of four years, from 1636 to 1640, but his son John, to be married by 1654, must have been born some years before 1636. Two scenarios come to mind. First, John WOODBURY may have had two wives in addition to the mother of Humphrey, a second wife (whom he may have married while in England in 1627 and 1628) who was the mother of John and a third wife (Agnes or Anne) who was the mother of the last three children. Second, given the approximate date of birth for the son John, it may be that the immigrant John WOODBURY, on his return trip to England in late 1627 and early 1628, married a second time, to Agnes, impregnated this second wife, and returned to New England without her. She would then have come to Salem some years later and begun having children again in 1636." Children were: Deacon Humphrey WOODBURY.

bullet First wife

She married to Deacon William WARD I about 1625 in England.(112) I assumed that they were married one year prior to the birth of their first child. Also, like Ward (696), I will assume that all of the children born in England were born to the first wife and all of the children born in America were born to Elizabeth. Children were: John WARD, Joanna WARD, Obidiah WARD, Richard WARD, Deborah WARD.

bullet Frances emigrated in Jul 1623 to Plymouth, Plymouth Colony. (113)(114) (115)(116) William came in the fortune in 1621. His wife Frances came in the Ann in 1623. Savage says that William Jr came with the father, but American Plantations (021) says he came with the mother. She died about 1636 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony. (117)

She married to William PALMER on 30 Jan 1608.(118) Torry says questions the date of this marriage. Some say Frances was much younger than William. Some claim her surname was PLUMBER; other says BLOSSOM. Children were: Sarah PALMER?, William PALMER.

bullet Frances was living after 19 May 1614.(119)

She married to Robert FULLER (Yeoman) after 1584. (120)

bullet Francis was born before 1614 in England.(121) I assumed that she was at least 15 when she bore her first child. She emigrated before 26 Oct 1640 to Plymouth, Plymouth Colony. (122) She died after 26 Oct 1678.(123) (124)

She married to Captain Matthew FULLER about 1629 in England. (125)(126) (127) I assumed that they were married one year before the birth of their eldest child. MacGunnigle (478) say that he was fined for taking a stand in support of Quakers. Children were: Samuel FULLER , Mary FULLER, Elizabeth FULLER, Anne FULLER, John FULLER.

bullet Garteud left, according to his inventory, on 30 May 1670. (128)

She married to James (Jacob) HURST .(129)

bullet Hanna was born in Apr 1853 in Sweden.(130)

She married to Andrew J. JOHNSON between 1890 and 1900.(130) They were marred in 1875 accoring to the 1900 census. Assuming thathtey had no older children than the 8 and 6 year old listed in the census, that would imply tha thtey waited 17 years to have children. Doesn' seem likely. Also, that date conflicts with a marriage to Carry MAGNUSON, which had to occure before 1890 according to their son's DR. Children were: Mabel A. JOHNSON, Albert W. JOHNSON.

bullet Hannah died on 9 Apr 1725 in Braintree, Norfolk, MA. (131) She was buried in First Burying Ground, Randolph, Norfolk, MA. (132)

She married to Ebenezer SPEAR before 1712.(133) Children were: Hannah SPEAR, Mary SPEAR, Ebenezer SPEAR.
