He Inherited 12 acres of land in Haddam from his father in 1685 in Haddam, Middlesex, CT.⁽⁸⁶⁷⁶⁾ He died in 1731 in East Haddam, Middlesex, CT.⁽⁸⁶⁷⁷⁾⁽⁸⁶⁷⁸⁾⁽⁸⁶⁷⁹⁾ Parents: Ensign Gerard SPENCER and Hannah Joannis HILLS.

He married to Margaret BATES about 1679.⁽⁸⁶⁸⁰⁾ ⁽⁸⁶⁸¹⁾ I assumed that they were married one year prior to the birth of their first child, however, Margaret was would have been only 16 years 9 months old "when William's first child was born, it has been suggested that this child was by a first unknown wife, but not necessarily so."
