(10009) I am not positive that the following indentured servitude entries concerning Edward Winslow is THIS Edward Winslow:

On 22 Jul 1634, William Hammond and Nicholas Prestland both became indentured themselves to Edward WINSLOW for about a year. WINSLOW will pay them at the rate of "8 s. the hundred" but they most pay WINSLOW £5 upon completion of service. This is an odd contract. I wonder if it is a punishment for some kind of mischief.

On 11 Feb 1635, in a agreement accepted by all parties, Twiford West, already indentured to Edward WINSLOW for six years, added an additional year to his term but was released from his indenture to Nicholas Snow.

He owned three indentured servants as either master or guardian between 1638 and 1666 in Plymouth Colony. (10065) Plymouth records repeatedly mention a "Josias" WINSLOW which I assume is Josiah. That being the case:

On 4 Feb 1638/39, Josias WINSLOW bought 50 acres of land from William Phybs, his servant, which was due being that William had fulfilled his contract.

On 6 Feb 1665/1666, Josiah WINSLOW and Anthony Snow are appointed guardians to Robert and Joseph Waterman (sons of Robert waterman, deceased). Somehow he is merely fined £4. Parents: Edward WINSLOW and Magdalene OLIVER.

Sherman's "Mayflower Families Through Five Generations", Vol. II, contends "The Mayflower Society has accepted lineages through a purported daughter Judith. No evidence has been found to substantiate this claim of a daughter Judith born to John and Judith Winslow, as reported in Families of Pilgrims and in Colonial Families Of America 1:56; nor has the Judith Winslow who married Taunton 1688 John Packer been identified." On 5 May 1646, Kenelm WINSLOW is required to return the clothes of Roger Shaundler's daughter, his servant, without delay. He claimed that he held her clothes because she owed him more service.
