81. Mary Alma GREGORY (14) was born on 11 Mar 1873 in Ballardsville, Itawamba, Mississippi, USA.(14) She appeared on the U.S. Census in 1880 in , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA. (15) listed as daughter, age 7. She died on 9 Jun 1955.

The following information is taken from "A Gregory Family in America" by Forest F. Reed (1944)

"Alma Gregory was born March 11, 1873, near Ballardsville, at the place owned by her father for many years.
She attended school for the first time in 1878, when she was five years old, at McKinney's School, near her home. Her first teacher was Miss Sallie Reese. She next went to school at Fawn Grove where her teachers were Will West and Burney Lee Phipps. For several years afterwards she attended the Ballardsville School with the following teachers in the order named: Allie Williams, Miss Ophelia Holly, T. H. Turner, Judson Turnage, Booker McKinney, Miss Addie Seal, Mr. Morton, and J. M. Spradling. Other teachers were Mr. Wallace at Dorsey and J. M. Kelley at Mooreville; also W. A. and J. T. Holly at Oakland Academy, A. T. Galloway and J. A. Hedges at Oak Bower near Dorsey and Harrison Fowler at Fulton.
Alma Gregory taught school for four years. She taught her first term in 1892-1893 with Miss Mattie Bell Morgan at Pine Forest, ten miles north of Fulton. The next two years she taught with Sidney Sheffield at Fawn Grove School near Ballardsville and the fourth year, 1895-1896, she taught at Ballardsville with J. E. Sandlin.
On November 8, 1896, she was married to Charles N. Reed. They made their home at what is known as the old Reed place, five and one-half miles south of Fulton. The house still stands one hundred yards south of the road, just across Reed's Creek. A post office was located there, the name of which was Reedsville. Charles and Alma Reed lived there until 1934 when they sold the place and bought another at Fulton. The old Reed place, now owned by her son, Forrest Reed, is in the north half of section 20, township 10, range 9, east of the basis meridian of the Chickasaw Cession.
Alma Gregory Reed has dark red hair, brown eyes, is five feet, four inches in height and of medium weight. She now lives with her sons.
Her husband, Charles Nathaniel Reed, was the son of William and Elizabeth Reed. He studied medicine for two years at the University of Tennessee Medical College at Memphis but did not have the opportunity of finishing the course. He spent his life as a farmer and died January 10, 1942, at the age of seventy-five. He was born October 5, 1867.
There were five children of Charlie and Alma Reed all born at Reedsville, five and one-half miles south of Fulton."

She was married to Charles Nathaniel REED on 8 Nov 1896 in , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA.(67) (68) Charles Nathaniel REED was born on 5 Oct 1867. He died on 10 Jan 1942. Mary Alma GREGORY and Charles Nathaniel REED had the following children:

child158 iv. Winona REED(14) was born on 23 Aug 1903 in Reedsville, Itawamba, Mississippi, USA. (14) She died on 15 Jul 1909.(14) She was buried in Reed Family Cemetery, Reeds Creek, Itawamba, Mississippi, USA.(34) A tombstone marks her grave. Winona Reed, the only daughter of Charles and Alma Gregory Reed, attended school one term before her death, having started when she was five. She is remembered as a very attractive little girl with an unusual capacity to learn. She could read when only three years old.
