He appeared on the U.S. Census in 1870 in , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA.⁽¹³⁾ listed as son, age 12. He appeared on the U.S. Census in 1880 in , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA. ⁽¹⁵⁾ He is listed with his parents as Hugh Jr. at the age of 22 and that he is a "twin". He appeared on the U.S. Census in 1900 in , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA.⁽³⁸⁾ listed as head-of-household. He died on 30 Sep 1931.⁽⁴⁵⁾
He was buried in Walton Cemetery, , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA. ⁽³⁴⁾ Hugh Jr. was one of a set of twins, the ninth and tenth children born to Hugh and Nancy. Not much has been extracted about Hugh Jr. other than from the various census and cemetery records. He appears to not have any living decendants. His twin sister Susannah married Simpson Comer, a widower, from Union County, South Carolina and Hugh Jr. married Simpson's oldest daughter Eliza Comer.
In the 1900 US census we find Hugh and his wife Eliza living in Itawamba County. This census lists the number of children born as six, and children living as 1, yet two names are given for children in the household. Allie, daughter, born April 1894 and Charlie, son, born Aug 1899 (9 months old). But in the cemetery records for DuVall Cemetery we find five children of H. and E. Gregory. These five children are listed as:

The Charlie in the census is listed as born Aug 1899, and the Charlie in the cemetery died September 1899. There appears to be a couple of errors made in the records. Is the record for the grave markers wrong? Is the birth year 1893 or 1899? The census birth month matches the grave marker record, but not the year. The problem is that the grave marker indicates that Charlie had died before the census was taken and was not 9 months old and alive, but had died 9 months earlier. So did the census marshall get the birth but not the fact that Charlie had died?

An interesting note about Allie (Ollie) comes from a newspaper clipping that lists her name as Ollie. It also said that "she had three sisters and two brothers who died as infants." and that "They are all buried in the Walton Cemetery along with their parents." The information from Walton Cemetery lists Hugh, Eliza and Ollie's names but only gives a birth date for Ollie. This is probably a tripple head stone or three stones, and Ollie's name was placed on it, since she was the only living child at the time of Hugh's death. The other children are not in the Walton cemetery but are buried in the DuVall cemetery of Itawamba county.

He was married to Eliza T. COMER (daughter of Simpson COMER) on 19 Oct 1881 in , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA. ^(46)(47) Eliza T. COMER was born on 24 Aug 1863 in , , South Carolina, USA. ^(34)(48) She appeared on the U.S. Census in 1880 in , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA. ⁽¹⁵⁾ Listed at age 17, with her Father and step mother, Susannah Gregory. She appeared on the U.S. Census in 1900 in , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA.⁽³⁸⁾ Elizabeth lists that her mother and father were born in South Carolina. She also indicated in the census that she has had 6 children by 1900. But she also indicated that only one was still living, yet they give the names for two children; Allie, daughter , born April 1894, and Charlie, son, born Aug 1899. The DuVall cemetery records indicate that Charlie had died before the 1900 census, thus Allie would be the one living child. She died on 28 May 1955.^{(36) (49)} She was buried in Walton Cemetery, , Itawamba, Mississippi, USA.⁽³⁴⁾ Hugh GREGORY and Eliza T. COMER had the following children:
