Notes for Donald Jerry Hyde:
[hydeee.ftw]
My father died of liver cancer, an inherited decease caused by too much iron deposits. He died February. 11, 1993 at 4:44 A.M. He was the best carpenter, boat builder, father, grandfather anyone could ever wish for.
My father started his life in St. Louis Mo. only because his mother wanted her child to be born in Mo. His mother and grandmother were born in Mo. Immediately after he was born they went back to San Pedro, California where he stayed until his early teens. His mother had him in private schools in California. He rebelled in these schools and always was kicked out of them. He was not a follower and to this day I could see why he didn't like these schools.
They later moved to Port Angles, Washington where his father was a sea-captain and Master Salvager. It was his father who my father learned his seamanship knowledge from. My grandfather learned in CT. where he Wa born. My father was an artist and creator. His imagination was many years in advancement of others. He once won 1st and was a one man show in Pullman Wash. collage. We to this day have things he built through my life time and my children too. He built and designed boats all the time. His mind was always working overtime. He created furniture, fireplaces and lovely art. My father also created rocking horses, rocking boats and rocking sea-horses. He definitely had an artists temper but he was a man that could show his love. I feel most of his love game from his fathers side but I did see a little from his moms. My dad was a rare man, he remembered birthdays, holidays and his anniversary were celebrated every month from the time they were married to his death. As a child I couldn't remember their real anniversary. He loved to travel and showed my brother and I how to fish, build boats and work with wood.
My father joined the Navy in Washington around 1945, Married my mom in 1948, they met at college by a friend of his. My grandmother wanted my dad to marry Gretchen but they were just friends ant she was the one that introduced my mom and dad. To the day my parents died they had a plaque on the wall of a mermaid named Grethchen. I still hear from her to this day of Oct. 1997.
In Remembrance of my father I sign off and say I love you dad, a part of me died with you. Love...
