Funeral Services Held December For J. S. Shelton
Funeral services for Jim Sampson Shelton, 47, of Route 2, Winnfield, were held
at the Guinn Cemetery near Curry at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon December 2,
1947, with the Rev. George Myles of Tullos and Rev. W. C. Bounds of Winnfield
officiating.
Burial was in the Guinn Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral
Home.
Mr. Shelton passed away at Pineville on Monday, December 1, after an extended
illness.
He was born at Tioga on October 7, 1900, and was reared and educated in the
Curry Community. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Mr. Shelton is survived by his widow, Mrs. J. S. Shelton, of Winnfield; one
daughter, Mrs. Howard Barnette of Winnfield; one brother, W. H. Shelton of St.
Francisville; and one grandchild.
This cemetery is located East of Winnfield, off Hwy. 84. You will turn
on E. Mercer Road go .2 mile, turn right on Clayton Holmes Road go .9 mile,
turn left on J. Barnhill Road go .1, the turn right on Guin - Cox Cemetery
