Dr. Samuel W. Little of Clarksville was born in December 1828 to
Samuel and Mary Cain Little. He died in July 1913, unmarried. He was
a Medical Practitioner. He was the physician for the Booe children
that grew up in the little house on the hill, which was owned by James
Chestire Booe.

Dr. Samuel Little, frugal and thrifty, accumulated a valuable estate,
but no one knows how much was done for Love's sweet sake. It has been
said that his presents in a household was considered a blessing.
Dr. Samuel Little's will is recorded in the Davie County Court House,
dated 1907 and probated in 1913. He left an inheritance of $1,000.00
to each of the following:
To the children of my stepfather Samuel Holman, deceased
To the children of my deceased uncle, Daniel W. Cain
To my nephew Phillip Booe, son of John Calhoun Booe
To Harriet Booe, daughter of my nephew George Judson Booe
in the hands of Cana Ijames, brother of Emma Booe, and to other
children of the mother. Remainder of Estate goes to Baptist
Orphanage, Thomasville, North Carolina.
Dr. Samuel Little was a regular reader of Charity and Children and
stayedon top of the news concerning the Orphanage, even though he
never visited the institution. Without saying a word to anyone, except his
attorney, he left a legacy to the Orphanage that will forever link him to the
institution.
Today the Orphanage is still located on West Main Street in
Thomasville, North Carolina and houses over 65 children at the present
time.
One of the original buildings is still located on the property and now
occupies the museum. Parents: Samuel Little and Mary Cain.
