Foreigners from the Palatinate and Zweibrucken. Georg Spencer, Master,
from Rotterdam, last from Deal. - 563 passengers. The spelling of his
name changed may times. The Catholic Church listed him as Casper Hirn.
The list swearing allegiance to King George of England had a signature
of Casper Zirn. Many years later when signing deads of transfer he
would sign his name in German script "Casper Zirn", and the clerk
spelled Ziurn as Sain. He brought his family to North Carolina in the
1700's and settled on the east side of Dutchman's Creek in an area
known as the Heidelberg Settlement. On List of Communicants at the
Heidelberg Lutheran Church in 1792. Listed on the 1793-1794 Rowan
County Petition for a seperate election (Legislative Papers,
Petitions, Box 3, North Carolina State Archives)
