William R. Tully came to Knox County in 1855 at the age of 6 months.
Obituary - Willam Tulley 75 is Dead W. R. Tully a miller at Hedge city
for many years, 75 years old, died at 1:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon
of heart disease at his home a mile east of Hedge city. He had been
complaining since in April but had been in Novelty the day before
working in a field in the morning. He had gone to the barn lot after
dinner and taken his team out of the barn to go to the field. When
noticed by his daughter, Mrs Arthur Howerton, and her Daughter, Wilma,
he was sitting under a tree. They went to him and raised his head,
but he exoired after breathing only a few times. Funeral services will
be at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Babtist church in Hedge
city, conducted by the Rev. P. S. Scott of Philadelphia, MO. Burial
will be in the Harmony cemetary, north of Hedge City. Seven Children
survive: Mrs Howerton, the daughter at home, John Tully of Columbus,
MO., Tom Tully of Ottumwa, EA; Mrs Nettie Gosney of Kirksville, Mrs
Clifford Lewis of Edina: Mrs Ernest Johnson of Pennville, MO: and Mrs
Charles Kimball of Hedge City. Besides the children Mr. Tully also
leaves 27 grandchildren and 4 great-grand children and 2 brother,
Giles Tulley of St. Joseph, MO. and Lem Tully of East st. Louis, IL.
Mrs Tully died eight years afo April 27. William R. Tully, a son of
Mr. and Mrs. William Tully, was born on september 25, 1854, in
Kentucky. His parents came to Knox County when he was 6 months old
and settled on a farm just across the road from Mr. Tully's late home,
near Hedge City. In that vicinity Mr. Tulley's entire life was spent
and there he ran a grist mill and also a sorghum molasses mill for
many years in addition to farming. Mr. Tulley was married fifty years
ago , March 28, 1880 to Miss Malissa Hathaway. They were the parents
of eight children, on of whom is dead. He was a member of the Babtist
