among the ones in Indiana, who had slaves. He had four: 3 males and
one female. The womans name was Elizabeth. She was the house slave
and helped with the cooking, cleaning, laundry and babies. Mary was
sick following the birth of Joseph, so Elizabeth had to spend alot of
time in the house and Thomas had releations with her. This was not an
accepted practice at the time, so when Elizabeth came with child, a
marriage was arranged between Elizabeth and a field hand named
Franklin. The child was named Mattie Elizabeth. She was of fair skin
and oftened passed off as a 3rd cousin to the Booe Family. A couple
of years after the birth of John, Mary died and Elizabeth help Thomas
