Birthdate of March 12, 1882, is in accordance with Chester Cook's Social Security Application. On his tombstone, the birth year shown is 1884. The following was provided by: MITNWVNC@@aol.com Birth date of March 12, 1882, is in accordance with Chester Cook's Social Security Application. On his tombstone, the birth year is shown as 1884. In the 1900 Yadkin County Census, his birthdate is shown as March, 1883. He had a beautiful farm on Union Baptist Church Road, located in the Pea Ridge area of what is now Hamptonville. He built a cement swimming pool and had the water flowing from a dam he had built on an adjacent creek. The water flowed through wooden troughs he and his brother, Frank, (an accomplished carpenter and furniture builder) had built. He converted a barn to dressing areas for his customers. This was the first swimming pool most of his customers had seen. His son, Bruce, said that Ches went to buy fertilizer and seeds and came back home with the materials to build a swimming pool instead. His son, Bruce, built an ice cream stand from which customers could buy homemade ice cream. Others fished in the streams and would cook the fish they caught over small campfires. This was still in operation in the mid-1950s. Remnants of the swimming pool can still be seen. This was a very pleasant environment for Chester's children and grandchildren. On the opposite side of Union Baptist Church Road from Chester's property was a wooded area adjacent to a stream. It was told to his grandchildren there was an Indian graveyard at that site. 1920 Yadkin Census, Buckshoals Township, #233. Parents: Henry Columbus "Lum" Cook and Emily Samantha Booe. That it would sell for a good price if sold as a whole tract. 2. From the number of acres +230 from the way the land is situated it would be difficult to divide it into so many lots or to make any fair & equal division at the above for same and that division, asked for made in accordance therewith under order of court.
