Indenture made between John Mushat, Clerk of Iredell Co. and Elijah
Campell states that in 1830 Court a petition was filed by Joseph H.
Gatton and others (Ref: BK O:510 dated 1830 for power of attorney doc
Joseph H. Gatton signed in 1821) regarding the sale of Azariah
Gatton's land. Names heirs and since Benjamin had died by this time,
his children are named. Apparently the land of Azariah Gatton who
died in 1804 was still not sold or the monies not distributed and
Joseph (now from Wilson Co.,TN) hired lawyers to get the matter
resolved for all the heirs. Parents: Azariah Gatton and Elizabeth Humphries.

He was married to Matilda Ratledge on Feb 27 1802 in Rowan County, North Carolina. Children were: Patsy Gatton, Henderson Gatton, Franklin Gatton, Betsey Gatton, Matilda Gatton.

When Anson Hodgson first wife, Carrie (Ratledge) became ill, her
cousin, Matilda Gatton came and cared for her and the child. Carrie
died and Matilda stayed and later bore Anson a child. They never
married, but she was named and her son named in Anson Hodgson's will
along with other heirs.
She is buried at Clarksbury Church Cemetary, Iredell Co., NC Parents: Benjamin Gatton and Matilda Ratledge.

Children were: Rufus Luico Hodgson.
