Martin Snider was born in Germany ca. 1728 and made the trip to the New world about 1749. He is reported to have arrived in New York and moved to Pa. He served in the Revolutionary War from Pa. Martin Snider married to Catharine Amon (Amen, Amend, Amendt, Ammon etc) ca 1775. The had Martin Snider-md Ruth Tipton, John A. Snider, Henry Snider, Eve Snider md.Jacob Glass ( Klass), Mary Snider-md 1st John Rife and 2nd Thomas Fisher, Elizabeth Snider, Mary Magdelene Snider md. Zarahiah Pumphrey, and Catherine Snider md. Dr. Kennedy. Martin Snider moved his entire family (children and grandchildren) from Pa to Ohio ca. 1800. His intentions were to go to southern Ohio in their ox carts but he learned that there was much sickness there and he moved to Jefferson County, Ohio (now Harrison County, Ohio) and obtained two 640 acres planations. (the common name at the time for the land.)
