| I am reserching the de la Loire and Labbe families of St. Martinville, La. I have been researching the de la Loire family name for some time, and with some difficulty. The la Loire was originally a dit name, the family name being Jousset. The earliest dates I have in that line are of a Mathurin Jousset who was married to Antoinette Payer in the late 1500's or early 1600's, in St. Germain d'Arcey - Anjou, France. Some other names I am attempting to research are as follows: Conery married to Anne Caffery (Ireland); de la Croix family who mainly settled around New Orleans; de la Loire around Quebec and Fort Louis de la Mobile; de Lassus from France and New Orleans; Duchamp de Chastaigne from France and came through Martinique; Juchureau St. Denis from France through Quebec. Louis Antoine Juchureau St. Denis was noted for his excellent strategy in dealing with the Indians. Labbe, Lamothe, Louiseize (Louis-Seize), Martin, Nadeau, Sanchez de Navarro, Villanueva y Baroso (Barroso)are among some of the others I am researching. Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated. I am very willing to share any information that I have. Thank you. |
