Eyles - Arthur Wesley


Arthur Wesley Eyles lived and died in Tasmania. He was born on the 20th October 1879 in Ouse, the son and 9th child to George Eyles and Alice Rawlinson. Arthur joined the Hobart Police Force in March 1902 and served in the force until October 1944. He conducted his duties in many towns within Tasmania and was closley associated with three Royal visits to Tasmania. In 1946 Arthur received an Imperial Service Medal from the Governor – Admiral Sir Hugh Binney at Launceston Police Headquarters for 43 years of good and meritorious service. Arthur was a supportive and loving father to Rachael, Celia, Hector, Colin, Molly and Douglas.
