5. JAMES BRANDON was
born about 1704 in ENGLAND. He died in HALIFAX CO., VA. ?. As to the testimony
of Charles M. Brandon I, there was in the old John Brandon Family Bible
(which was handed to him from generations before) a letter of recommendation
given to JAMES BRANDON, dated 1741, which listed the place as the "13th
district of Carolina".
Because this letter was kept in the old Brandon Family Bible and the referred
date (1740's)
matched and was always believed that this James was the father of William Brandon,
who left a will in Halifax Co. Virginia in 1778. Old colonial records of North
Carolina indicate there was a James Brandon in that area at that time.
The last name of his wife Anne is unknown. Some sources indicate Mary as wife,
whether he was married twice has not been determined.
He was married to ANNE -----? about 1725 in HANOVER CO. PENN..
