Martin (found at the Maine Historical Society, Portland): Robert Martin of Baldwin, Cumberland County, applied for a pension, age 64 b. 1755 - enlisted for service May 1, 1775 under Capt. Jeremiah Hill in the Regt. of Col. Scammon of Mass. Province. They marched to Cambridge and were discharged Jan. 1, 1776. He then reelisted in the service under Capt. Hill in the Regt. of Mass. They were stationed at Boston until the 9th of Aug 1776 when they were ordered to Ticonderoga, NY, discharged Jan 1, 1777 at St. George. On May 1, 1777, he enlisted at Saco for 3 years under Capt. Hill.They marched to Boston where he was attached to the command of Capt. Ware and Capt. Danis. He was present at the surrender of Burgoyne Oct 1777 - at the battle of Long Island Aug 27, 1777 and the Battle of Monmouth Jun 1778. Discharged at Highland, West Virginia in 1750. Pension request mentions Rosanna (wife) age 59 out of her head the past 8 years. Leah age 19 a cripple from white swelling, Catherine age 17 and Stillman age 11.
