bullet Lyman* McIntyre(109) was born on 15 Sep 1850 in Jordan, N.Y.. He died on 25 Sep 1883 in near Jack's Reef, N.Y. at "old Brooks farm", bur. Maple Grove Cem., Jordan. Buried in Maple Grove Cem., Jordan, N.Y.
The "old Brooks farm" is what recent generations have called "grandma and
grandpa Fuller's farm." Actually it was Lydia Wheeler McIntyre Fuller's
farm that she inhereted at the time of Lyman's death and continued to
live in after she remarried William Dallas Fuller. In 1995 the place
still stands.See 1874 map of Town of Elbridge for location.

From a Syracuse newspaper of the 1930's in a regular column called "Little Neighbors of Syracuse" refering in this story to Peru, N.Y. comes the following: "Another man whose hands were his only capital lived over by Lewis' crossing, near by where Carpenter brook sings down through the meadows. One winter needing work, Abram Howe, the Jordan druggist, gave him a job clearing up some muck land along the Central tracks, and a part of the bargain was that he should have use of the ground the first year. Seed potatoes were so plentiful that year that farmers gave them away to clear their cellars, and this man, Lyman McIntyre planted the whole 10 acres to potatoes.

"The season was very dry, but the muck land was very wet, and while the {other} crop{s} generally was a failure, McIntyre dug and sold 1,500 bushels of potatoes that fall for a dollar a bushel He was rich and didn't know what to do with so much money, but Kirby Lewis, Philip Drake and Dr. Howe induced him to buy the Brooks place over on the New Guinea road {today Old Rte. 31}, which was only a lot away from the same West Shore railroad that bought Pat Butler's gravel hill. There was also a mound of sand and gravel on the Brooks farm, which the company bought, and Lyman McIntyre was also a rich man as riches were estimated in those days." {Signs of the old West Shore Railroad [actually it was a trolley line] remain today and can still be seen here and there along the south side of Rte. 31 aproaching Jordan from the east.}

He also worked at the old cement works on Whiting Rd. near Jordan. Site of the dump these days.

Shanty Point Rd. is now McDonald Rd. His son Lyman's farm was there.

Cem. which in actuality is "near" Hamilton St. I have not seen stones for
them in either one, but some of their children are in the Quince St. Cem.
Besides, I doubt if they were Catholic.

He appears in the 1840, 1850, and 1860 N.Y. census.
