Aert Teunissen* Middagh Captain⁽¹⁰⁹⁾ was born about 1641 in Heicop, Utrecht, Netherlands. He died WFT Est. 1674-1732 in Brooklyn, New Amsterdam, New Netherland. Emigrated to New Amsterdam prior to Oct. 24, 1654. He received a patent for 150 acres of land on Wallabout Bay, Long Island, which is now the borough of Brooklyn in N.Y.C. He returned to the Netherlands briefly in May of 1661, and returned on the ship Beaver. He was Captain of "ye Breuckelen Troops", a provincial militia from the year 1663.

In "A History of the City of Brooklyn, Including Old Town", by Stiles, he reported that in 1867 a part of the old Middagh mansion still stood on Fulton St. The point of the junction of Wallabout Bay with the East River became known as Martyn's Hook, embracing a portion of the U.S. Naval Yard. This land was once owned by Aert who erected a mill on the site in 1710. He sold the property in 1723 to Hans Bergen and then became known as Marty's Hook. This property, eventually called the Remsen Estate, was later occupied by the Naval Yard.

He drafted a petition to the Council of New Netherlands onMar. 1, 1660 requesting "lands to form a village on the margin of the river so that we may be in sight of Manhatans or Fort Amsterdam". The request was granted, and the village of Keike [Lookout] was established. Parents: Teunis** Middagh.
