examination of the Vital Records in Westfield and Northampton dispute
this.
There was a Thomas Root in Northampton married to Abigail Alvord who had
a
daughter Abigail, but no record of the daughter's marriage has been
located.
Further, Trumbull states that he couldn't tell if the death record of
Abigail
Root referred to mother or daughter. He did not list a spouse for the
younger
Abigail. On the other hand, Westfield Vital Records state that Joseph
Moseley m. Abigail Root, daughter of John Root and Mary Ashley. Parents: Lt. John Moseley and Mary Newberry.
