Frank was a type setter for the Ottumwa newspaper and was
very good at it. She also said that Fank used to set out
trout lines when he was young in Keasauqua, and sell them to
the Manning hotel every morning.

Ottumwa. At age 20 he moved to Tulsa, OK and got a job as editor of a
small newspaper
called "The New Era". This paper competed against a newspaper called "The
Indian Republican". His duties with "The New Era" which eventually became the
"Tulsa Tribune" included serving as business manager, advertinsing manager, and
treasuer.
He assumed the position of composing room foreman of the Tulsa Democrat-Tribune
in 1919. He held this position for many years before venturing into other
business fields. But eventually he came back to the Tulsa newspapers as a proof
