He was married to *Elizabeth (Walker) WFT Est. 1683-1717. From "Memorial of the Walkers of the Old Plymouth Colony", by J.B.R. Walker, 1861:

The will of Jabez Walker "was made July 11, 174_, and proved Oct. 1742. He made his mark. Inv'y, L13,10,3. Res. Eastham." Children were: *Sarah Walker, Richard Walker, Rejoice Walker, Mary Walker, Jeremiah Walker, Mercy Walker, Jabez , Jr. Walker, Patience Walker.

bullet *Sarah Walker(61) was born WFT Est. 1689-1712 in Eastham, Massachusetts. She died WFT Est. 1735-1800. Parents: *Jabez Walker and *Elizabeth (Walker).

She was married to *Nathaniel Higgins on 7 Aug 1729. From "Richard Higgins and His Descendants", by Mrs. Katharine Chapin Higgins, Worcester, 1918, page 105:

"Nathaniel Higgins, born June 1, 1694, at Eastham; died ____; married (1) Feb. 26, 1717-8, Elizabeth Atwood, born ____; died ____; daughter of Daniel(?) Atwood; married (2) Aug. 7, 1729, Sarah Walker, daughter of Jabez and Elizabeth Walker, of Eastham and a descendant of Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower through his daughter Constance, wife of Nicholas Snow."

"Nathaniel Higgins resided at Eastham and was probably a farmer. March 4, 1729-30, he was elected fence viewer and on March 4, 1733-4, he was elected hog-reeve. Little more is known of him."

"Nathaniel Higgins and Ebenezer Higgins both of Eastham yeomen agree to divide equally several parcels of land and tenements in Eastham, being all the housing, lands and medows that our honoured Father Ichabod Higgins of sd Eastham bought of John Collens by deed dated Sept 5, 1715, ... in which division the sd Nathaniel Higgins his half of the houselott or homestead lies on the western side thereof and the sd Ebenezer his part of the abovesd house lys on the easterly side sd dividing line, he having given security to pay the sd Nathaniel Higgins one half part of the value of sd Dwelling house and the sd Ebenezer Higgins forever hereafter shall allow unto the sd Nathaniel Higgins a way across the head of his part of sd land from the way to sd Nathaniel Higgins his part of sd land (two other parcels also divided in the deed). Signed Aug. 10, 1717. Witnesses Joseph Doane, Rebecca X Allen." --Recorded March 19, 1717-8 in Book 14, fol. 112, Barnstable County Deeds. Old deed belonging to Mr. Nye of Wellfleet, copied and communicated by Mr. Stanley W. Smith."

"From this it would appear that Ichabod Higgins before his death must have deeded the property he bought of John Collins to his sons Nathaniel and Ebenezer jointly. This may explain why John and Thomas Higgins, the other sons of Ichabod, thought that they could sell their father's homestead without the consent of the surviving sister. No estate of Nathaniel Higgins mentioned in Barnstable Probate Records." Children were: *Thomas Higgins , Nathan Higgins.

bullet *William Walker(61) was born in 1620. He died before 1703.

He was married to *Sarah Snow on 25 Feb 1654/55 in Eastham, Massachusetts.(23538) From "Memorial of the Walkers of the Old Plymouth Colony" by J.B.R. Walker, 1861:

"The earliest notice of any William Walker in this country, is found in the Proprietors' Records of the town of Hingham. He received a grant of land in 1636, among the first settlers of Hingham. And it is highly probable, that he is the William mentioned in Savage's Gleanings, with Richard, James, and Sarah embarking for New England, in the Elizabeth, in April, 1635; 1st, because several of those who received grants in Hingham at this time, afterward went to Taunton, where James and Sarah were, and several to Rehoboth, where James Walker's mother and brother Philip settled. In addition to this, the date of his grant, harmonizes with that of his leavings England. Furthermore, there is no trace of a William Walker in any other town of the Old Colony, at so early a period. And this mention of a grant of land to him in Hingham, is the only one in the records of Hingham concerning him. He then disappears. These circumstances favor the conjecture, that the William in Hingham in 1636, and the William afterward in Eastham, were the same person. Only 16 years of age when in Hingham, if we suppose him to have been the William of the Elizabeth, from London, the dates respecting William Walker of Eastham, do not make the theory at all improbable; they rather confirm it, inasmuch as these were the only William Walkers in the Old Colony, of whom there is any record.....

There can be little doubt that the William emigrating in the Elizabeth, April, 1635, and 15 years of age, was the William of Hingham in 1636, and though there is no positive proof that he went to Eastham, yet, as there is no trace of him in Hingham in 1636, it may be presumed, that he was the one who settled in Eastham, and was the father of the Eastham Walkers. He was not related to the other Walkers of the Old Colony, or if so, only remotely, being of the same age as James of Taunton, who came in the same ship with him. As his name is associated in the certificate of conformity, with 'Richard ae 23 yrs.,' who went to Lynn, it is more probable they were more or less nearly related.

William Walker of Eastham, b. 1620, m. Jan. or Feb., (Feb. 25, Plym. Col. Rec.) 1654, Sarah Snow, dau. of Nicholas, of Eastham, had 6 children, and died at an advanced age. His will was proved, 1703.

His name is in the list of those able to bear arms in 1643, but the time of his settlement in Eastham in unknown. He was propounded June 8, 1655, and admitted to freedom, June 3, 1656.... He was surveyor of highways, 1668, '69, '78 and '79, and constable in 1682.

'May 3, 1653, there were agitations about and conserning a warr with the Duch, in these ptes of America,.... and messengers sent by commissioners to the Munhatoes [Manhattan] .... and preperacon was made, viz., warrants issued for the pressing of 60 men; Eastham to furnish 3. Morouer two barkqes were alsoe pressed to attend the expedition, master thereof was pressed for the same purpose with John Younge and William Walker, and all things nessearie for their vse belonging to the said barkqe.' Plym. Col. Rec., 3d vol, 30,31 pp.'

Plym. Col. Rec., 6th vol., 170th p., June 2, 1685: 'William Walker, having 2 naturall sons in the training band, and 1 killed in the warrs, and some weakness and infirmitye of body, the Court orders that hee, the said William Walker, from hence forward shall be excused from training.'

'A parcel of meddow granted to Wm. Walker. Lying at Silver Spring meddow, and containing 3 acres and 3/4, more or less, bounded by Jonathan Sparrow's bounds, at the beach by a marked tree, and by Nicholas Snow by a marked tree, and a stake in the marsh. April 27, 1659.'

'Granted to Wm. Walker, Senior, a small bitt of land, at the westerly end of his land next the meeting house, that is to say, so much as to make his fence straite from the corner of his land, next Samuel Freeman's, to the corner of his own fence, at the brow of the hill above said Walker's barne - this grant is allowed of by the major part of the men appointed by the Town, to have a negative vote in disposing of lands, in the Town of Eastham. Recorded April 30, 1699.'

...Tradition says he lived on the North bank of the Great Pond, about 500 yds., west of his father-in-law, Nicholas Snow. There have been houses on the place to this day, and it has been in possession of the Walkers till the purchase lately, by Philip Smith.

His descendants have not been numerous. Living on the sea shore, a considerable number have been engaged in maritime pursuits, and exposed to their perils, some died in early manhood, and others with few or no children." Children were: John Walker, William Walker, William Walker, Sarah Walker, Elizabeth Walker, *Jabez Walker.
