bullet Lydia Brown(110) was born about 1616 in England. She died WFT Est. 1665-1711. Lydia was married first to Thomas Parsons, an early settler of Windsor,
Connecticut, who was probably the Thomas baptized at Beaminster, Dorset 8
Feb 1608/9, son of William and Margaret (Hoskins) Parsons, and brother to
Cornet Joseph Parsons, and Benjamin Parsons of Springfield, and
Northampton. She married at Windsor 30 November 1664 as his thrid wife,
Eltweed Pomeroy. Thomas Parsons was one of the earliest settlers and
founders of Windsor. He served in the Pequot War from Windsor and for
this service received 50 acres of land, which was given to his sons
Ebenezer and Samuel by the General Court of Ct. in 1698. Thomas Parsons
purchased, before 17 March 1650/1, the home of Richard Secton in the
Palisado in Windsor. Lydia sold this dwelling house and land about it in
1662, after Thomas Parson's death. It was just north of the land of
Walter Gaylord and west of John Williams, and east by Tahan Grant. Thomas
was not active in town affairs, but in 1651, kept the ferry over the
Rivulet for one year. Also cleaned the meeting house. Thomas Parsons paid
5 shillings and was placed in the long seats in the meeting house. The
names of the children of Thomas and Lydia are found in the records kept
by Matthew Grant, who stated in 1677 that Thomas Parson had eight
children born in Windsor, and recorded them ad Bethia, Thomas, Abigail,
JOhn, Marcy, Ebenezer, Samuel and Joseph.
Lydia (Brown)(Parsons) Pomeroy may have been the "Lydia Browne certified
from Little Minories, London" who cam on the Abigail of London, arriving
at Boston about 8 October, 1635. Her name appears in the court records in
1651 when "John Bartlitt for his great missdeamenor in frequneting the
house and Company of goody Parsons of Wyndsor unseasonably and
dissorderly on the Sabath dayes and other times is fined 40 shillings and
is to finde security for his good beharious." (Particular Court Records.)
In 15 Aug 1660, Winthrop treated Lydia Parsons, wife of Thoams, for
"paine in head & back". He called her Lydia Parsons, a widow about 50
yrars in August 1663, ; on 18 April 1664 noted that she had been treated
again for "pain in head."
Eltween Pomeroy drew up a deed on 14 June 1665 giving -unto my now dear
and loving wife, Lydia, one parcell of land in my house lott, in bredth
five rod, and four feet,...beginning at the highway and extending to the
foot of the hill, near the swamp...and I the said Eltweed Pomeroy do
promise and engage to build a dwelling house upon the foresaid parcell of
land, which shall be twenty four foot in lenght; and sixteen foot in
bredth with doores, floores, and windows, staires, and stone back, hearth
and oven, which building shall be made strong, complete and suitably
done, as a dwelling house ought to be, which i also give until Lydia my
said wigfe; I do also promise if my Son Josephs time be not out with
Goodman Gunn before myd eparture this life, that Lydia my wife shall
enjoy and ossess my littler stone house with that part of the orchard
and land which I intend to give the said Joseph, equal with his
breatheren, when his time comes out...I do also give..to Lydia my wife
one acre of meadow land, now in tillage, lying by JHohn Hosfords Land, in
the great Meados..and I also give to Lydia...one feather bed and one half
the other part of my household goods, that I shall have at my decease,
the other part being set a part for my children. I do also promise my old
house shall not be removed, from the stone house till Josephs time be
out, with Goodman Gunn...and I the said Eltweed Pomeroy, do freely
promise give bequeath allienate and enfeoff the premises according to the
true intent and meaning of the aboves unto my deare and loving wife Lydia
Pomeroy as her own proper goods lands, housing and estate, myself only
having the enagement, profit use, and benifit of ye premises the time
and terme of my life and to the end thereof to all etc. This deed was
recorded 2 May 1668, but in the margin is written "This Deed here
recorded is now cancelled and resigned up, and the acre of meadow made
over to Walter Fyler, dec the 5th, 1671." On 13 October 1669 Eltweed
Pomeroy had made an agreement with Walter Fyler that, I Eltweend Pomeroy
having of late take up of Walter Fyler, corn and other provisions, for my
family, as also he having paid for me several debts, for the payment
whereof I do by this, sell allienate, and make over, wholly and forever,
so much land (at 8 pounds per acres) at the bottom of my meadow next the
Great River, against the meadow, as will pay him what I now justly owe
him, and what I shall owe him and will be due to him, in March 25, 1670.
It was noted on 25 April 1671 that "Wwalter ffyler, as by purchas of
EltweedPomeroy, one acre and a half, of meadow land, in thbe Great
Meadow, being the last he has to make over." Finally on 7 November,
1671, Lydia POmeroy "made over" her acre of meadow to Fyler, and the deed
was recorded 5 Dec 1671 by Matthew Grant. Thus, Lydia was alive as late
as 7 Nov 1671. No further record of her has been found.

She was married to Eltweed Pomeroy on 30 Nov 1661 in Windsor, CT.
