death of his mother. He came on to the Salt Lake Valley.
Almon and Amy had nine children. After Amy died, he married Phoebe Barton, a

Phoebe gave him nine children.

Note: William met Martha Raymer Weaver and her husband Edward Weaver for the
first time when he was on his way to Far West, MO, abt Apr. 1838. He became
very ill while 125 miles away from Far West in Huntsville, MO. Edward
befriended him and took him home with him, where he and Martha cared for him
until he was well once again.
The town of Draper, Utah was named for him. (Once known as Willow Creek.)
He was also the first mayor of Moroni, Utah. William was the son of William
Draper and Lydia Lathrop. He married (1) 1827 near Albany, N.Y.,-- Elizabeth
Staker, (b. 29 Feb 1806, d. 1888.) She was a young widow who had a one-year-old
son named Henry that William adopted. He and Elizabeth had nine other children.
He married (3) Apr 1848, Mary Ann Manhardt. b. 15 Aug 1827, Johnstown, Canada
She was most kind to raise Martha Raymer Weaver's baby Almon Draper, and an
older daughter of Martha's. She and William also had children.
He married (4) May or June 1848 - Marial Thompson Crosby, a widow. They had a
son Nephi Draper. This marriage was not a success.
In 1854 he took three more wives: Mary Howarth, Fanny Newton and Ruth Hannah
Newton.
