Alexander L. Jillson Captain⁽¹⁰⁹⁾ was born on 20 Dec 1830 in Boonville, N.Y.. He died on 9 Mar 1902 in Emporia, Kansas. He was a Civil War vet. serving with the 97th N.Y. Vol. Inf. His military records, which I have a copy of, are very interesting. There is mention of a wife in them that he left behind in Boonville when he went to war. No mention of her later or in the genealogy. He was a Captain in Co. A and deserted in late 1862 or early 1863. Stayed home a year, came back to the regiment as a private, worked his way up through the ranks again, and became a Captain in Co. C. by the end of the war. Most unusual. If you cannot find my copies of his service records you should get a copy from the National Archives as they are very interesting reading, especially the way he gets to go back home which led to his desertion.

The Jillson Gen. says he went to texas as a carpenter. This may be so but I tend to think he never strayed any farther than Kansas. When in Boonville before the war he was a butcher. Parents: Otis C. Jillson and Lucretia T. Holliday.
