His Will dtd 23 Sep 1785, proved 23 Feb 1803. Dutchess Co, N.Y. (Dutchess Co.,
Vol. B, p. 356). Peter also served in the Revolutionary War.
Peter was a weaver and farmer. He removed to Rye, Westchester, N.Y., and then
to Rombout Precinct (Fishkill) where he spent the rest of his life. Upon his
death he willed his loom to his son Peter. Info also from "Westchester

Whittaker's Manuscript says about Peter's gravestone: "About 1936 the
inscription on Peter's tombstone was noted and placed in a book. It read:
"Here lies the body of Peter LaDue. Departed life 26 Feb 1791, aged 70 yrs, 2
mos, 24 days--Behold me now as you pass by--As you are now so once was I--As I

Stephen Ladow was buried in the Boyce Cemetary, at Milton, Saratoga, N.Y. He
died in his 92nd year, (born 1732.)
His father Estienne (Stephen) appeared as witness on a Will in New Rochelle,
Westchester, N.Y. in 1732. Stephen Ladow, Jr. and Stephen Ladow, Sr. appeared
on tax lists in Dutchess Co. N.Y. records together.
Death: Taken from Saratoga, N.Y. Cemetary Inscriptions by Henry
C. Ritchie. Also, his Will dated 18 April 1817, proved 6 April 1824, Saratoga
Co., N.Y., copy in my possession.
Several variations of his name exist. His first name has appeared as
Estienne. Ladow has also been spelled Ladue, Ledow, Ladu, Ladoue, Ladoux,
and LaDieux.
In the History of Saratoga County, N.Y. by Sylvester, Stephen Ladue is
reported as being at the 3rd town meeting of Half Moon in 1790. He moved
from Fishkill, Dutchess County, N.Y., to Half Moon, Saratoga, then to
Milton, Saratoga, N.Y.
According to a correspondent, Stephen's father was supposedly married twice
and descendants of the other wife were in Plymouth, Ohio in 1886.
One correspondent said Stephen had 23 children! I only have records for
20 children. Three must have died young.
Apparently, Stephen Ladow's property in Milton was transferred to son-in-law
John Waring (who married his daughter Sybil Ladow) about 1824. "The old Ladow
house was built pioneer fashion and painted red. This was demolished in 1851."

"Stephen Ladow and his last wife are buried in a cemetery about 4 miles west of
Saratoga in the town of Milton. The graves are marked by small headstones
which bear the following insriptions: 'In memory of Stephen Ladow who died
February 24th 1824 in the 92nd year of his age. In memory of Elizabeth Ladow
who died August 1st 1816 in the 65th year of her age." I think his first wife
must have been buried in Dutchess County. His farm is located in the town of
Milton about 6 miles southeast of Saratoga and 2 miles from the cemetery." Parents: Estienne "Stephen" Ladou and Sarah.

He was married to Jaine about 1752 in of, Fishkill, Dutchess, NY. Children were: Sarah "Sally" Ladow, Jemima "Mima" Ladow, Temperance Ladow, Judith "Judy" Ladow, Jane "Jean" "Jenne" Ladow, Anne "Nancy" Ladow, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Ladow, Abraham Ladow, Jacob Ladow.
