"Accidental Death", Coroner Finds, Victim Steps From Behind Truck.

Harvey L. Bare, 77, retired farmer and lifelong resident of Hancock County, was instantly killed when struck by an automobile while he was walking along the Benjamin Franklin Highway, a mile east of Findley late yesterday afternoon.
Frank Nye, of Green Springs, O., driver of the automobile that hit Bare, was taken to the county jail by Deputy Sheriff Paul Solt for questioning and later was released.

Skull Fractured.

Dr. Harold O. Cosby, Hancock County Coroner, returned a verdict of accidental death. Dr. Cosby said that Bare suffered a fractured skull, causing almost instant death.
Four ambulances responded to an emergency call following the accident. The body was taken in the Coldren Ambulance to the Coldren Funeral Home where it will remain until funeral arrangements are completed today. In a statement to county authorities, Ney, driver of the car, said that he was crowed to the edge of the highway while attempting to pass a large truck and that Bare stepped from behind a truck which was coming from the opposite direction.

Returning From Woods.

Bare, who resided with his daughter, Mrs. Roy Palmer, of Cherry Street, had been cutting wood east of Findley and was returning from his days work when he was killed.
He was the son of Joseph and Eve Bare and was born in McComb on December 10, 1855. He was married on February 25, 1883 to Sarah Casteel, who preceded him in death. Nine children were born. Eight survive.
Those living are W.L. Bare, Charles Bare, Roland Bare, Mrs. Roy Palmer, Mrs. C. W. Shireman all of Findley; Mrs. Duckwork Berry, Columbus Grove; Marcella Bare, Cleveland, and Mrs Carrie Staats, also of Cleveland.
Mr. Bare was a member of I.O.O.F. lodge, and the First Church of God.
