Last Will and Testament of William Robbins, Senr.
October 2, 1826

In the name of God Amen, the second day of October one thousand eight hundred and twenty six I William Robbins Senr of Edgecombe County I am weak in body but of perfect meind and memory thanks be given unto God. Thereforecalling unto mind the mortality of body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to dye. I do make and ordain my last will and testament vez first and principally I recommend my soul into the hands of God who give it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian Buried at the discretion of my Executor nothing doubtin but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate__where with I hath please God be bless me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner.

I lend to my beloved wife all the land and plantations I do now possess with all my household goods and kitchen furniture withal the plantation working tools one mare Bridle and saddle and twelve head of hogs of her choice out of them and one cow and calf during her life. I do give and bequeath to my son William Robbins one shilling.

Item. I give to my grandsons Moses Robbins the son of Elijah Robbins and Wiley Robbins the son of Eley Robbins all my land equally to be devided between each of them after the death of my wife Phebe Robbins the residue of my property to be equally diveded between my three sons and one daughter that is Stephen Robbins, Elijah Robbins and Eley Robbins and Charity Braswell the wife of Isaac Braswell Senr and do nominate and constitute ordain and appoint my son Stephen Robbins my whole and sole Executor of this my last will and testament I do hereby utterly disallow and revoke all and every other former testatments wills legalies bequests and executors conferming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year above writtened.

Edgecombe County February Court 1831 The_____last Will and Testament of William Robbins Senr.
Decd was exhibited in open Court for probayte and was proven by the oaths of Britain Williford, Caleb Davis and Mary Ann Jackson the subscribing witnesses thento. And Stephen Robbins the executor named at the same time qualifies thereto order that the same be certified and the Will be recorded. Test. Michael Hearn CC

Attachment to the Will:

I William Robbins Senr. am informed that my son William Robbins has got a deed a gift for all my land but I do denie that I err give him a dead gift nor his children for my land. My son William come to my house and informed that me he would be glad that I would give him a few lines to infrom the people that he was not going away and he sat down in my House and wrote a few lines and got me to assign it but I do declare that there was no deed a gift given to him at all for the writing that he wrote in my house was but a few lines and there was no seal to it at all this was done in October 1819 William Robbins Senr informed me and my wife that he was owed was indebt more that he ever expected to pay and wanting that he rot he informed me upon his fare prommisings that he would give them up at any time when I called for them and there was no seal upon the letter but I also signed and if it was the same paper that I assigned he added the deed of gift to it after I aforesinged it.

William Robbins Senior is Charlotte Taylor Ainsworth's 5th great grandfather.
