Was 23 in 1840 when family arrived in NSW. Appears never to have married. However there are records for children she had with Donald McGilvery. McGilverys came to NSW on the same boat as the McLucases. The IGI christening record for Mary is 20 May 1821. Two Marys?

Notes for SARAH MCLUCAS:
Need to check the IGI for variant spellings of both names. Sarah and Mairon, Marion etc are all variants of Gaelic Mor. 17 when the family arrived in Sydney in 1840.

5. MARGARET3 MCLUCAS (JOHN2, ARCHIBALD1)2 was born 1833 in Isle of Mull, Argyll, Scotland, and died in Australia. She married HUGH MCINNES2 July 04, 1855 in Presbyterian Church, Sydney, NSW, Australia, son of ?ROBERT MCINNES and ?MARGARET MCLEAN. He was born Bet. 1827 - 1829 in Lockspelvie, Isle of Mull, Scotland, and died in Australia.

Notes for MARGARET MCLUCAS:
According to her daughter Flora's birth certificate she was born either in 1832 or possibly January 1833. Her son Robert, born in March 1864 when she was 31, which confirms 1833, however, the inconsistencies in her husband's age on the same certificates calls all dates into question. These dates also question Margaret's relationship to the McLucases who arrived in 1840. Age recorded as 11 on the shipping report into NSW in 1840. Married Hugh McInnes in the Presbyterian Church in Sydney 4 July 1855. No birth record in the IGI, no death record. Did the family move to Victoria in the late 1860's? There is a link somewhere with the gold fields. Bendigo, Ballarat? Husband Hugh Macinnes is recorded as being a farmer, but daughter Flora came to Westland, New Zealand in 1877 to marry a gold miner. Subsequent Hardy offspring knew (of) relatives in Australia, some in the Clarence River area, others in Victoria.

Notes for HUGH MCINNES:
Speculative parents and birth date come from a search of records for Torosay parish on Isle of Mull. Looking specifically for Robert to balance with only son born 1864 - found only one with wife Margaret. Son Robert's birth certificate gives his birth place as Lochspelvie, Isle of Mull. There is a smallsea loch in the southwest of the island, Lock Spelve, also a place name Kinlochspelvie. This will certainly be the area. He was a farmer.

Married Margaret McLucas in the Presbyterian Church, Sydney on 4 July 1855.

6. ARCHIBALD3 MCLUCAS (JOHN2, ARCHIBALD1) was born Bet. 1830 - 1832 in Isle of Mull, Argyll, Scotland, and died 1908 in Clarence River, NSW, Australia. He married (1) CHRISTINA ROSS 1857 in Morpeth, NSW, Australia, daughter of MUNRO ROSS and CHRISTINA MUNRO. She was born Abt. 1836 in Ross and Cromarty, Scotland, and died 1868 in Clarence River, NSW, Australia. He married (2) CATHERINE KAY 1881 in Clarence River, NSW, Australia.

Notes for ARCHIBALD MCLUCAS:
Birth reported to the IGI by a relative. Neither he nor Margaret appear to be in extant Mull registers. Recorded as McLucas/Flory. Was 9 in 1840 on arrival in Sydney. Married Christina Ross, who dies 1868, in 1857. Six children.
First two children were born in Morpeth in the Hunter Valley, later ones in Woodford Dale, now part of Grafton in the Far North of NSW. Second wife probably Catherine Kay (m. 1881; at least another six children from the second marriage.

Only recorded death of a Christina McLucas that fits the profile is 1868/4179, parents Munro and Christiana.
