About Our Family Research

In 1999 I began researching my family tree. I am interested in all branches of my family. My motivation is a love and appreciation for all my ancestors, and the dreams and struggles they experienced in their lifetimes.

I have identified about 1100 family members at this point. The family names and locations that the families originally settled are as follows:

Burns (Frances,John,John,Robert): Ontario, Canada 1830-1930

Nowland/Nowlan/Nolan (Peter,John,Edward,Elizabeth): Ontario 1830-1930

Kennedy (Patrick, Ann): Ontario 1830-1880; Ann married John Nowland above, born 1846

Shorten (John, John, Frederick, Mary): Shadwell, London, England 1840; Nova Scotia 1880

Walsh (Alice): Guysborough, Nova Scotia born 1850

MacDonald (Angus of Clanranald) - this line is well documented and written about in the book "Fair is the Place" - 1740 Scotland

Dahlke, Frank "Franz": from Prussia arrived November 8, 1880; with his wife Marianne "Mary" Donner and children, Frank, Marianne, Michael, Rosalie, Andrew, and Josephina. Family settled in Manistee, MI and later in North Judson, and South Bend, IN. Three of their older children had immigrated earlier, Stephen Christ, Joseph, and Anton.

Frank Dahlke Sr, above, is the son of Jacob Dahlke and Constantine Friszke. He was born August 11, 1826 in Grylewo, Poland. His brothers were Anton (b 1832) and Jacob (b 1835).

Bloch/Block (Joseph): from Prussia (Bremen) arrived July 19, 1869; with his wife Wilhelmina Roda, and children, Jacob, August, Julianne, Paul, Johanna, Joseph, and Auguste. My great grandmother Amelia and her sister Lizzie were born after the family arrived in MI. The Blocks settled in Manistee, MI also.

George Frankowski & Marcianna Eichstedt arrived in early 1883 from Gniezno, Poland. Marcianna was pregnant during their immigration, and had their first son Walter in May 1883. They were destined for South Bend, IN. Their other children were Carrie, Mary, Tony, Helen, Sylvia, Alexander, and Harriet.

George Frankowsi's siblings were Catherine Kurowski, Rose Urbanowski, Stella Swiderski of Hyde Park, South Chicago; Louis of Muskegon, MI; John Frankowski, and Marianne Fischer who remained in Poland.

Marcianna Eichstedt's siblings Theodore (born 1859), Joseph (half brother, b 1877), and Veronica Wegenka (born 1866).

I would love to hear from anyone who may be interested in these families, and I will share my information with you as well.
