He was married to Ann Missouri BROTHERS (daughter of Albert BROTHERS and Mourning [BROTHERS]) on 7 Feb 1867 in Windsor, Isle of Wight, VA. Ann Missouri BROTHERS was born on 30 May 1844 in Nansemond County, VA. She died on 2 Mar 1906 in Windsor, Isle of Wight, VA. She was buried in Windsor, Isle of Wight, VA.⁽⁵⁾ Buried in the family cemetery in a field at the Knoxville Cross Roads farm on US Route 258 between Walters and Windsor, VA. Carr interview with Buna Mae Butler Johnson, Audrey Carr, Baxter Carr, Jr, and Vicki Carr Ringo on December 31, 1991 provided the following: 1850 census shows that Ann Missouri Brothers living in Nansemond County with a William Gwinn and a Mourning Gwinn. Apparently, her father had died and her mother had remarried. Richard Young BUTLER and Ann Missouri BROTHERS had the following children:

Tombstone in family shows name as MISSOURI ELER.
