5. Riddick BUTLER was born about 1816. Unconfirmed data.
1850 census shows a RIDDICK BUTLER (census families number 1017) age 34 living in the same general area as STEPHEN DECATUR BUTLER (census families number 1033). A female age 25 named MARY and a baby KINDRED age 9 months living at the same address. Assumed these people to be his spouse and child.

Information from Vicki Carr Ringo that Stephen Decatur Butler had two brothers, Meredith and Riddick.

He was married to Mary Ann JOHNSON on 14 May 1838 in Gates County, North Carolina.⁽²⁾ Witness was Solomon Butler. Mary Ann JOHNSON ⁽²⁾ was born about 1825. Riddick BUTLER and Mary Ann JOHNSON had the following children:
