23. Sir William de HOLLAND Kt. of Sharples⁽¹⁾ was born about 1275 in Upholland, Lancashire, England.⁽¹⁾ He died about 1318.⁽¹⁾ Not having a son by his lawful wife Sir William formed a non-legal union with Margaret de Shoresworth to have his son, Sir Thurstan. He endowed his son by grant with the Sharples estate, while Margaret's Uncle, Alexander de Shoresworth, also not having heirs, also endowed Thurstan with the Denton estates.

He was married to Marjory (Margaret) de SHORESWORTH (daughter of Robert de SHORESWORTH) date unknown.⁽¹⁾ Marjory (Margaret) de SHORESWORTH⁽¹⁾ was born about 1275.⁽¹⁾ She died in 1363.⁽¹⁾ Known as Margaret Knight, of Sharples Sir William de HOLLAND Kt. of Sharples and Marjory (Margaret) de SHORESWORTH had the following children:
