John Waters, or (Whitney) Campbell appeared on the 1871 Census Returns, @ that time he was 43 years old.
The source of this information came from the public archives C-657 Distric 95 page 3. Lochaber Twp.
Keitha E (Billie) Campbell did this search on Oct. 1973.
Aug 5, 2002 Peter Campbell entered this information about John W Campbell. Father James Campbell, Mother Isabella McDougal.
John W Campbell was the first white child born in Lochaber Twp 1828. Father and mother arrived from Scotland the same year.
The middle name Waters or Whitney keep coming up and I have no proof which of the two names are correct. My father's second name is Whitney. Abel Waters was a prominate business man in that area when they first arrived, so it is possable this name was given in his honor. John W Campbell later married Cynthia Ann Waters, Abel Waters grand daughter. This name will some day be sorted out, for now John's second name in the genealogy records is shown as Waters. In Arthur Mowat Campbell's (born 1921) written files show second name as Whitney.
