Elijah Brown moved from Massachusettes to a neighborhood between Hawksbury Mills and Van Kleek Hill in the twp. of West Hawksbury about 1801. Elijah Brown Married married Sally Ann Waters daughter of Abel Waters, one of the early pioneers of Longueuil, Prescot County. They then settled in the vicinity of London, Ont. About 1814 he exchanged his London area land with his brother-in-law, Truman Waters, for land in Hawksbury, Lot 9, second Range and bought half of lot 12, all of which was then in its primeval state. At the time of his death, Elijah Brown left four sons and two daughters, but only son George Brown, and one sister were still living in 1869. George is known to have lived his whole life in the area. George Brown farmed a very properous farm of 140 acres. He was well knowh as an industrious farmer.
