Descendants of Henry Holloway

Generation No. 7

7. PLEASANT7 HOLLOWAY (WILLIAM H6, ISAAC5, GEORGE HOLLOWAY4 SR, JOHN HOLLOWAY3, THOMAS2 HOLLOWAY, HENRY1) was born April 23, 1795 in Campbell County, Virginia, and died May 17, 1875 in Marion County, Kansas. He married SAMARIA STANLEY September 12, 1821 in Union County, Indiana, daughter of JOHN STANLEY and ELIZABETH STANLEY. She was born March 14, 1795 in Virginia, and died January 11, 1873 in Marion County, Kansas.

Notes for P
LEASANT HOLLOWAY:
The birth and death dates of Pleasant and Samaria were taken from the bible of William Bargdall Holloway in 1969 by Mrs Merritt Holloway. Pleasant's birth date is also shown in Wade Hindshaw's Quaker records in Campbell County, Virginia.

It is not know at this time if Pleasant stayed in Indiana after his marriage or returned to Ohio where he is shown in the Quaker records as being kicked out of the church, dated: 1821.

The next record we have of him is in the 1830 census of Stoney Creek Township, Randolph County, Indiana. Also the 1840 and 1850 census of Randolph County. Then in 1860 census of Wells County, Indiana. However, we do find Abijah A Holloway transfered land to Pleasant Holloway in Wells County, Indiana and they are both listed as of Koscinsko County, Indiana but have no dates for this.

Again we find Pleasant HOlloway bought land in Freemont County, Iowa, dated: 7 July 1855 and sold land dated: 1856. Nothing has been found to show he ever lived in Freemont County, Iowa. His daughter, Catherine (Holloway) Rowe and son Abijah A Holloway both lived in Freemont County. Cathering dieing there, Abijah from 1862, after deserting from the Civil War, until 1866 when he moved on to Marion County, Kansas.

Several of Pleasant's children were married in Wells County, Indiana from 1853 to 1858, so may have been living there until leaving by wagon train, probably with three daughters:
Hannah (Holloway) Stanley and children, a widow;
Susannah (Holloway) (DeWitt) Taylor and children, a widow;
Phoebe (Holloway) Fagg, husband Milton Fagg and children;
A son: William Holloway b: 1840, wife and children;
and
Pleasant Holloway and his wife Samaria (Stanley) Holloway.

This would have been a company of at least 8 adults and about 16 children with wagons and probably horses, loose cattle and etc. on their tip to Marion County, Kansas in about 1869. There is some indication that there may have been other members of the family on this trip.

Abijah A Holloway had moved to Marion County, Kansas in 1866 so that is probably the reason they went there.
