Mary Blain Barmore (daughter of Barmore) was born April 23, 1854 in Dubach, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, and died April 03, 1933 in Bluffton, Yell County, Arkansas. She married William Devoid Aikman on 1877, son of Dubois Gilbert Aikman and Cora Zipporah "Zippy" Blagg.

Includes NotesNotes for Mary Blain Barmore:
What is known is that Mary Barmore corresponded with a relative of Mrs. Ada Bellew Coleman. Mrs. Coleman told Virginia Aikman McCartney many years ago that she had in her possession a stack of "love" letters from Mary Barmore to her uncle, ??? Bellew. This suggests that Mary Barmore may have spent some time in the Bluffton area then moved away. And the Barmore-Bellew courtship ensued by letter. At some time this relationship broke off, perhaps at the urging of William Da. Aikman. Maybe he turned on the Aikman charm and wooed Mary into matrimony. Judging by the size of their family, they had an "active" life together.

In addition to raising eight of their own children, William and Mary helped raise the four children of Mary's sister following the sister's death and the death of her sister's husband. These death dates and the name of Mary's sister are not available. The sister was married to Louis Taylor and is thought to have lived in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana. The four children were Mattie Loudicy Taylor (b. 2 Mar 1869 - d. 13 July 1943), Louis Taylor, Sally Taylor and Ruby Taylor. Ruby Taylor was a nurse and never married. Following the death of their parents, Mattie, Louis, Sally and Ruby came to Bluffton to live under the care of their Aunt Mary and Uncle William. The ages of the children when Mary and William brought them to Bluffton is unknown. It is possible that Mattie, the oldest of the Taylor children, was a teenager at the time of her mother's death. Mattie must have known a boy - perhaps a classmate, named Rufus Cleveland and she returned to Louisiana to marry him on November 18, 1886, in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, according to Louisiana marriage records 1851 - 1900. Mattie would have been about 17 years old at this time. She is reported to have taken her three siblings back to Louisiana to live with her and Rufus.
