OHN LAWSON:
Started work at the age of 8. John's duty was to grease the axles of the wagons which conveyed the materials along the strech of land where the lines were being laid - construction of the Redmires Dams.
After getting married started farming at Wyming Brook, never kept more than three cows at one time.
They then moved on to Bell Hagg Inn in Manchester Road and stayed eight years.
From Bell Hagg they moved to South Grove Farm in Crimicar Lane, Fulwood.
They then moved later to Ocean View, Redmires and yet again to Stumperlowe Farm.
