Thomas Clegg Sr (son of Alexander Clegg and Kesiah) was born 1750 in County Down,,Ireland, and died 01 Jan 1830 in Marshall Cty, Ohio City, West Virginia. He married Mary ? on Abt. 1768 in Ireland.

Thomas Clegg Sr was born in County Down Ireland in 1750. He came with his family to America sometime between 1790 - 1800. They were not in the 1790 census but were recorded in the 1800 Mercer County Pennsylvania census and Mercer County taxables for the the years 1800 and 1801. In the Neshannack Township Tax records they are recorded in 1802. Thomas Sr died in Ohio County, W. V. A land record search in Monongalia County, W.V., indicated a Thomas Clagg and Thomas Clagg Jr., bought 200 acres on Dunkard Creek in Feb. 1806. (Grantee Deeds, B k. OS 3, pg. 309). Grantor Deed OS 5 pg. 209 says that ThomasClegg., Sr, and Keziah, his wife and Thomas Clegg Jr and Mary, his wife all of Ohio County W.V. sold the same 200 acres on 4 Jun 1811. (Will Book 3,pg 34 of Ohio County, W.V.

"In the name of God Amen, I Thomas Clegg Senior, a citizen of Ohio County and State of Virginia, Remembring the uncertainty of this present life and being sound in mind and judgement, do make orgain and declare this instrument of writing to be my last will and testement, revoking and annulling all others:
1. I will that all my lawful debts be paid
2. I will that the legacies herinafter bequeathed be paid the Legatees in the manner directed in this my last will and testament.
3. I give and bequeath one dollar to James Clegg my eldest son
4. I give and bequeath one dollar to Samuel Clegg my second son
5. I give and bequeath one dollar to Richard Clegg my third son
6. I give and bequeath all the Remainder of My Real and personal property to Thomas Clegg my youngest son and consequence thereof it is my will that the said Thomas Clegg keep his mother in every thing necessary both for food and clothing her lifetime
7. I constitute and appoint Thomas Clegg my youngest son to be Executor of this my last will and testment.

Lastly in witness of all and each of the things herein contained I have set my hand and Seal this nineteenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight. Witness present: James Foster, John Wilson. Proven in February Court 1830. Shows his mark. (Thomas Clegg)
