He died in Jan 1844 in Acrefair, Ruabon, Denbighshire. He was buried on Jan 9 1844 in Ruabon, Denbighshire. He was married to ELIZABETH SERJANT on Sep 10 1803 in Wrexham.

33. ELIZABETH SERJANT was born about 1783 in Wrexham. She resided at Flint on Apr 2 1814. She resided at Flint on Jun 22 1817. She was a labourers widow on Mar 31 1851. She resided at Acrefaire, Ruabon, Denbighshire on Mar 31 1851. She resided at Cottages, Acrefair, Christionydd-Kendrick, Ruabon, Denbighsire on Apr 8 1861. Children were:

i. WILLIAM COATES was born in 1810 in Ruabon, Denbighshire. He resided at Acrefaire, Ruabon, Denbighshire on Mar 31 1851. He was a collier on Jun 4 1870.
ii. ELIZA COATES was born about 1814. She was baptised on Apr 2 1814 in Flint.

iv. HANNAH COATES was born about 1825.
v. ROBERT COATES was born about 1831 in Ruabon, Denbighshire. He resided at Acrefaire, Ruabon, Denbighshire on Mar 31 1851. He resided at Cottages, Acrefair, Christionydd-Kendrick, Ruabon, Denbighsire on Apr 8 1861. He was a labourer on Apr 8 1861. He died before Apr 4 1881.
