"About 1802, moved by a desire to live in a country where no slaves were held, Friends of Bush River began a migration to Ohio. Between 1802 and 1807 more than one hundred certificates of removal were issued, most of them being for families. This so depleted the membership that the monthly meeting seems to have been all but abandoned in 1808, though not formally laid down until 1822. A minute of Bush River Monthly Meeting, 1806, 6, 28, states that the Yearly Meeting “advises the Trustees, James Brooks, Samuel Brown, Isaac Kirk and John O'Neal, to sell or lease Bush River meeting house and lot, Rocky Spring meeting house and lot, and a meeting house lot at Camden. In 1809 the few remaining members of Bush River and Cane Creek Monthly Meetings were joined to New Garden Monthly Meeting by order of New Garden Quarterly Meeting. The same procedure appears to have been followed as to Wrightsborough. The minutes of New Garden Monthly Meeting relating to the former members of Bush River, Cane Creek and Wrightsborough Monthly Meetings are quoted below because it has not been possible, in all cases, to separate them and assign each item to the proper meeting."

"Joseph Pearson and his wife Margaret Cammack emigrated from SC in 1808 and after stopping for awhile on land owned by George Yount on the west side of the Stillwater, crossed that stream and entered one half section of section 1, township 5, range 5. They raised a large family of children. Two of whom are the wives of Davis and Henry Waymire. Mr Pearson as did others left the south mainly on account of slavery. Mr Pearson died 17 Jan. 1840, Margaret Cammack died 17 July 1854."
Joseph and Margaret's tombstones are side by side in the The former Mill Creek, (now Frederick) cemetery which is on County Line road, appx. 1/2 mile east of Frederick Pike at the Montgomery/Miami county line. It is in Miami county and the major well known nearby landmark is "Miller's Grove", a once popular swimming, picnicing area. For many years, there was a popular swimming area directly across County Line road from the cemetery called "Clearwater Falls" that utilized the old meeting house as part of one of their buildings. Clearwater Falls is gone without a trace now, except for their advertisement painted on one of the gables of the former meeting house, clearly readable to this day. The former meeting house is now part of an impressive residence. Joseph's tombstone is fallen over and broke in two to three parts. It reads "Joseph Pearson Died the 17th of the first month 1840 aged 6? yrs & 18 days." Which does present the possibility I have the wrong month for his birth. December 30, 1774 would be right for the tombstone to read," aged 65 yrs & 18 days." Margaret's tombstone still stands to the left of Joseph's. It reads," Margaret Pearson Died the 17th of the 7th month 1854 aged 76 yrs 8 mo & 1 day." Update, as of November 1999, Joseph's tombstone has been repaired and restored. Also have a new granite marker with the original wording on both Margaret's and Joseph's tombstones etched in. This is to be placed in between the two original tombstones and all three will be set with cement by the township trustees April of 2000
