George Zollinger (b. July 03, 1786, d. February 02, 1850)
George Zollinger (son of Jakob Zollinger)2057 was born July 03, 1786 in Louisburg, Dauphin Co., PA2057, and died February 02, 18502057. He married Elizabeth McCarter, daughter of Alexander McCarter and Elizabeth Plotenberger.

George Zullinger (sic) is listed as a voter in the first Clinton Township
election held the first Monday of August 1836. He was on the Board of
Trustees. (Illustrated Historical Atlas of Elkhart Co., Indiana 1874;
Chicago; Higgins, Belden, and Co; 1874; p. 51)
George Zollinger was elected a justice of the peace in 1844 (History of Elhart
County, Chicago:Chapman, 1881:517)
He was one of the first settlers in Clinton Twp. He was a veteran of the
War of 1812 and was employed for several years by the govt. as a gunsmith at
Harper's Ferry. (Bartholomew, HSK. Pioneer History of Elkhart Co., Ind.
Goshen, In:Goshen Printery, 1930:139-140.)
He resigned as J.P. 5 Feb 1845. (Letter in the Elkhart Co. Comissioners'
papers, Archives of the Elkhart Co. Historical Society.)
Census records show George Zollinger (or Zullinger) in Dauphin Co.,PA in 1810,
Cumberland Co., PA in 1820. He doesn't appear in 1830 census in PA, OH, or IN.
Arms Makers of Pennsylvania, by Whisker, shows George in Harrisburg (Dauphin
Co.) in 1811, then in Carlisle, Cumberland Co. from 1821-1830. His service
record shows him in the army in 1814.
