48. Joseph PEAVLER Sr. ⁽¹⁹⁾⁽¹⁹⁾ was born about 1795/96 in Sullivan Co. TN.⁽³²⁰⁾⁽³²¹⁾ He Moved to: Mercer Co. KY in 1812.⁽³²²⁾ He Moved to: Fountain Co. IN between 1856 and 1858.⁽³²³⁾ He died after 1870 in Fountain Co. IN.⁽³²⁴⁾ ⁽³²⁵⁾ He was buried in Fountain IN.⁽³²⁶⁾ Around 1812 (between 1810 and 1814), Joseph and his 2 brothers traveled from TN to KY and lived around Cornishville, KY, near Thompson's Creek, for several years. Joseph and his wife, Mary, settled on a farm near Sallee's Mill between Cornishville and Rose Hill in Mercer Co., KY. He farmed for many years. By 1830, they were the parents of 5 sons and 2 daughters. By 1845, they had 12 or 13 children. In 1856/57, Joseph, Mary, and some of the kids left their farm in KY and resettled in Fountain Co., IN . Jacob, James, Elizabeth, Christopher, and (probably) Mary Ann remained in the Cornishville area. Joseph and Mary Ann settled on a small farm in Fountain Co., IN, by 1858. In 1860, the value of Joseph's personal property was $650. In 1870, it was valued at $400. In the 1870 census for Fountain Co. IN, Joseph and Mary were living with their sons, John and Joseph, Jr. (Jesse?). No listing found for 1880. He was married to Mary Ann RIDGE on Feb 3 1818.⁽³²⁷⁾ Bondsman: Jacob Philips. Jacob Phillips, possibly a stepfather or uncle, served as bondsman.

49. Mary Ann RIDGE was born in 1798 in VA. She died between 1870 and 1880 in Fountain Co. IN.⁽³²⁸⁾ Children were:

i. Margaret PEAVLER was born in 1819 in Cornishville KY.⁽³²⁹⁾ She was living in 1900 in Fountain Co. IN.⁽³³⁰⁾ She died after 1900.⁽³³¹⁾
24 ii. Jacob PEAVLER.
iii. James PEAVLER⁽¹⁹⁾⁽¹⁹⁾ was born in May 1822 in Cornishville KY.⁽¹⁹⁾⁽³³²⁾ -Apparently a twin to Christopher. He died after 1900. In 1900, James was apparently living with his son, John, and family.
iv. Christopher PEAVLER was born in May 1822.⁽¹⁹⁾⁽³³³⁾ Apparently a twin of James. He was a Laborer in 1850. He Member Oakland Methodist Church, Mercer Co. KY between 1853 and 1915. He died on Apr 1 1915.⁽³³⁴⁾ West End (Rose Hill area) He was buried on Apr 3 1915 in Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Mercer Co. KY. -Resided in Mercer Co., KY; lived on the same farm for the last 58 years. 8 children, 36 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren survived him.
-Spelled "Peeveler" in 1850 Mercer Co. census.
v. William PEAVLER⁽¹⁹⁾⁽¹⁹⁾ was born in 1823 in Cornishville KY.⁽³³⁵⁾⁽³³⁶⁾ Alice has William;s year of birth as 1819; Betty Lue has it as 1821. He died after 1870 in IN or IL.⁽³³⁷⁾ -Went to Fountain Co.,Indiana, with parents, or followed shortly thereafter, in 1857/58. Had gone elsewhere by 1870 (no listing discovered in Federal census after 1860).
vi. John PEAVLER⁽¹⁹⁾ was born in Jun 1826 in Cornishville KY.⁽³³⁸⁾ He died on Feb 6 1906 in Fountain Co. IN.⁽³³⁹⁾ -A widower in 1900, he was living with his daughter, Maggie, and her family. He may have married in 1874.
vii. Mary PEAVLER was born in 1829.⁽³⁴⁰⁾
viii. Elizabeth PEAVLER was born on Jan 15 1831 in Cornishville KY.⁽³⁴¹⁾ She died on Sep 29 1910 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽³⁴²⁾ She was buried in Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Mercer Co. KY. In 1900, Elizabeth and her family were nearby neighbors of Isaac and William Merrit Peavler on a farm near Rose Hill, Mercer Co. KY. She was the mother of 8 children with 6 still living in 1900.
ix. Sarah PEAVLER was born in 1833 in Cornishville KY.⁽³⁴³⁾ She died in Fountain Co. IN.⁽³⁴⁴⁾ In 1860, Sarah and her husband were living in Fountain Co., IN, near William and Mary Jane.
x. Permelia PEAVLER was born in 1833 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽¹⁹⁾ Possibly "Pamelia"; parentage probable -- needs to be confirmed. She was living in 1860 in Muhlenberg Co. KY.⁽³⁴⁵⁾ She Moved to: Fountain Co. IN in 1861.⁽³⁴⁶⁾ She died in 1912 in Fountain Co. IN.⁽³⁴⁷⁾ She was buried in Springhill Cemetery, Hillsboro, Fountain Co. IN.. Around 1859, Permelia and her husband settled in Muhlenberg Co., KY., but by the early 1880s they had left KY and settled in Fountain Co., IN.
xi. Jesse PEAVLER was born in Feb 1835 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽³⁴⁸⁾ He died in 1917 in Fountain Co. IN.⁽³⁴⁹⁾ Jesse's family remained in Indiana for many years.
xii. Joseph PEAVLER Jr. was born in 1843 in Cornishville KY.⁽³⁵⁰⁾ He died in IN or IL.⁽³⁵¹⁾
xiii. PEAVLER⁽³⁵²⁾⁽³⁵³⁾. Died young.
xiv. PEAVLER⁽³⁵⁴⁾⁽³⁵⁵⁾ was born. Died young.
