224. John HALE Sr. was born between 1706 and 1722 in Baltimore Co. MD.⁽⁹⁴⁹⁾ He died after 1793 in Franklin Co. VA.⁽⁹⁵⁰⁾ -Per Cynthia Hale, John "gave supplies" during the Revolutionary War. (Kentucky Ancestors, Vol. 12, No. 2, Oct 1976, Arlene Brachman; Kegley, Virginia Frontier, p.582.]

-Per Steven Pfeiffer, John was a frontiersman and homesteaded on Bent Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Roanoke Co. VA.

-Henry Co. VA land records show him selling land in June 1792, which he had received as a grant in Botetourt Co. in 1783. In the sale transaction, he is listed as "of Franklin County."

-Pam Carey Durstock's Carey database has his birth as abt 1722.

225. Elizabeth was born before 1729. She died ca bet 1786 and 1793 in VA.⁽⁹⁵¹⁾ See Ridge Runners, Vol. XI (1978). Children were:

i. Thomas HALE⁽⁹⁵²⁾ was born on Oct 19 1742 in Augusta Co. VA.⁽⁹⁵³⁾ He died about Jul 1802 in Craig VA. -Possibly the son of William, rather than John.
-Possible Tory during the Revolution, along with the Price and Ogle families.
ii. William HALE⁽⁹⁵⁴⁾ was born before 1750 in VA.⁽⁹⁵⁵⁾ Possible that Wm was John Hale, Sr.'s brother, and children Thomas, Edward and Jesse, listed as John Sr.'s, may be Williams per Arlene Hale Brachman.

iv. Joseph HALE⁽⁹⁵⁶⁾ was born about 1751 in VA.⁽⁹⁵⁷⁾ He Moved to: Mercer Co. KY in 1785.⁽⁹⁵⁸⁾⁽⁹⁵⁹⁾ From Botetourt Co. VA. He died in Jul 1791 or Aug 1791 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁹⁶⁰⁾ He Estate settlement in Oct 1794 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁹⁶¹⁾ Payment to school and board three children.
v. Mary Margaret "Polly" HALE was born about 1752.⁽⁹⁶²⁾ She died in 1814/15 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁹⁶³⁾
vi. Edward HALE⁽⁹⁶⁴⁾ was born about 1756 in Franklin Co. VA.⁽⁹⁶⁵⁾ He died about 1820 in Franklin Co. VA.⁽⁹⁶⁶⁾ He served in the military Revolutionary War.⁽⁹⁶⁷⁾ Served in 1781 at Guilford Court House and Witzell's Mill; in 1782 he served in an expedition against the Indians. -Possibly the son of William, rather than John.
vii. Benjamin HALE was born about 1758.⁽⁹⁶⁸⁾
viii. Elizabeth HALE was born about 1761.⁽⁹⁶⁹⁾ She died on Aug 19 1839 in Washington Co. IN.⁽⁹⁷⁰⁾
ix. Lt. Job HALE⁽⁹⁷¹⁾ was born about 1764 in Randolph Co. NC.⁽⁹⁷²⁾ He executed a will on Jul 17 1790.⁽⁹⁷³⁾ Wittnessed by John Daly, John P. Steele and William Huff. Ky. Pioneer and Court Records-book 1, pg 109. He served in the military in 1791.⁽⁹⁷⁴⁾ "I was once appointed gdn to the heirs of Job Hale dec'd to wit: Isaac, John, Betty, Nancy & Sally Hale for the purpose of receiving a compensation that was supposed to have been allowed to them by Congress in conciquence (sic) of their father having been killed in the service of the United States. -- Jesse Hale He had an estate probated in May 1793.⁽⁹⁷⁵⁾⁽⁹⁷⁶⁾ Executors were friends John Chiles, capt. John Lillard. He served in the military Indian Wars in OH.⁽⁹⁷⁷⁾ Lieutenant in the Kentucky Militia under General St. Clair whrn he was killed fighting Indians. He died Nov 6 1792 KIA in Preble Co. OH.⁽⁹⁷⁸⁾ He was a Tory during the Revolution with his father-in-law Hercules Ogle.
x. Abigail HALE was born about 1765.⁽⁹⁷⁹⁾ She died in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁹⁸⁰⁾
xi. Jesse HALE Sr.⁽⁹⁸¹⁾⁽⁹⁸²⁾ was born about 1768.⁽⁹⁸³⁾ ⁽⁹⁸⁴⁾ He died on Dec 15 1812 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁹⁸⁵⁾⁽⁹⁸⁶⁾ He had an estate probated in Apr 1813 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁹⁸⁷⁾ -Possibly the s/o William, rather than John.
-Owned at his death 563 acres on Chaplin River, Mercer Co. KY.
