116. John SALLEE⁽⁷¹³⁾ was born in 1780/81 in Charlotte Co. VA.⁽⁷¹⁴⁾ He died on Oct 11 1845 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁷¹⁵⁾ -Deed Bk 7, p. 201, Jan. 13, 1808, Mercer Co. KY: Oliver Sallee & Sarah sell land on Chaplin Fork, to John Sallee. Certified Jul 3, 1809. 75 pounds. The original Thompson survey of 200 acres, together with houses, buildings, watercourses, etc. -Deed Bk 8, p. 351. Dec 17, 1812, of Mercer Co. KY. Oliver Sallee & Sarah convey to John Sally, each of Mercer Co., 94 acres of land on Chaplin Fork. 75 pounds money. Part of Thompson's survey of 200 acres. Recorded: Jan. 4, 1813. -Owned farm on Chaplin River in Mercer Co., KY., about 250 acres. Conveyed to John Sallee, Jr., by heirs, Oct 26, 1848 (Deed Book 28, page 45, Oct 26, 1858 - Mercer County, KY). He was married to Mary CLARK on Jan 27 1801 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁷¹⁶⁾⁽⁷¹⁷⁾

117. Mary CLARK was born about 1783.⁽³⁸⁾ She died about 1840 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁷¹⁸⁾ Children were:

i. Oliver Perry "O.P." SALLEE⁽⁷¹⁹⁾ was born on Sep 21 1805.⁽⁷²⁰⁾ He died on Nov 1 1892.⁽⁷²¹⁾ He was buried in Sallee-Gabhart Family Graveyard, Mercer Co. KY. In 1860 census of Mercer Co., KY, a Harriett Vannoy (b. ca 1820) was in the household.
ii. Charles SALLEE⁽⁴⁰⁾⁽⁴⁰⁾ was born in 1806.⁽⁷²²⁾ -Charles went to California during the Gold Rush and became very wealthy. He had 10 sons. He tried to get his brother J. Thomas Sallee to come out, assuring him that he had plenty of money to do both of them for the rest of their lives, but Tom refused to go.

vi. Joel Gordon SALLEE⁽⁴⁰⁾⁽⁴⁰⁾ was born in 1812 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁷²³⁾ He was living in 1850 in Washington Co. KY.⁽⁷²⁴⁾ He died in 1864 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽⁷²⁵⁾ Born 1812-1819. On the 1850 census of Washington Co. KY under "Sally). On the 1860 census of Mercer Co. KY. Not on the 1870 census. Bought land on Trace Creek in 1859 from John Sallee, Jr.
vii. Elizabeth SALLEE was born in 1813. She died in 1870. In 1860 census of Mercer Co. KY, lived at Cornishville. In the house
is also Elizabeth Corn (Born abt 1786/8 in VA). Possibly mother of
Jacob, remarried to Timothy Corn.
viii. Mary Jane "Polly" SALLEE was born in 1815 in KY.⁽⁷²⁶⁾ She was living in 1860 in Mackville KY. She and James Yeast lived in Washington Co. and Mercer Co. KY. In
Washington Co. in 1860 census.
ix. James Thomas SALLEE⁽⁴⁰⁾⁽⁴⁰⁾ was born in 1819. He was born in 1819. -1850 census of Monroe Co. MO.
-1870 census of Vernon Co. MO
Mercer Co., KY Deed Bk. 25, p. 77 - Nov 8, 1845: Thomas Sallee and Manerva Jane, his wife, of Washington Co. KY. Joel G. Sallee & Sarah, his wife, of Mercer Co., KY sell to John Sallee of Mercer Co. for $200.00 their interest in the undivided tract of land in Mercer Co. which belonged to their father, John Sallee, Sr. The tract contains about 250 acres and is located on Chaplain [sic] River and is the same tract on which John Sallee, Sr. lived and died. /s/ x Thomas Sallee, x Manerva Jane Sallee, x Joel G. Sallee, x Sarah Sallee. Acknowledged and recorded: April 14, 1846.
