A Lost Art
The weaving of human hair to create a beautiful decorative piece is indeed a lost art form. My great-grandmother, Marie Dorothea Adelheid Rebecca Meyer created this in 1841 when she was fourteen years old. It is made of the hair of her relatives, and includes three generations of "hair donors.," The list includes the following names:
Her grandmother, Marie Dorothea Eggers Ordeman
Her father, Johann Fredrich Meyer
Her mother Marie Eleanor Ordeman
Her siblings, , including Bernard Meyer,, Christel Meyer, Johann Fredrich Meyer,, Fredrich Wishelm Meyer,, Heinrich Fredrich Meyer, and Martin Meyer. And of course her own hair is included as well.
