John William Cruce (b. 1825, d. 1865)

John William Cruce (son of William Richard Cruce and Frances Jackson) was born 1825 in Gwinnett Co Georgia, and died 1865 in Clarksville, Red River County Texas. He married (1) Nancy Stewart on 1845 in Mississippi. He married (2) Hester Ann Spurlock on December 29, 1864 in Red River Texas.

1862 Muster Roll No. 1507,Texas State Archives: John W. Cruce, private, enlisted in Company E, Capt. J.C. Hart's Company, Sims' Regiment Volunteers, 9th Regiment Texas Cavalry. Transferred into the service of Confederate States of America, October 14, 1861. Served 12 months. Discharged July 17, 1862.* National Archives, Confederate soldiers.

He died shortly after the war. The family stated that the hard ships he suffered during the war was the cause of his death.

There were no children of 2nd marriage.
