For years I and other members of my family have been trying to search our family history. The road block is Gr-Gr-Grandfather Valentine Crommetts Parents. We know he was born about 1808 in Mass. He later married Esther Loomus in or near Skowhegan Maine. He shows up in the 1850 census, he, his wife and children are all listed. No mention of his parents, siblings or other relatives. He died in 1863 and is buried in Oakwood cemetery in Skowhegan, Maine. Also, there is a family legend that the immigrant was named Cromwell, he came to the new world to avoid authorities after the tyrant fell. So he inverted the "W" and crossed the "LL"s.
