Even though not openly affectionate, I never doubted her love. She was a quiet person in a crowd but loved having her family around her. Every one thought she had a sly sense of humor. She was a very patient person, rarily did she ever show any open anger.

She was very devoted to father and almost completely depended on him. In fact, she never drove a car to go anywhere. She sent me to the utility companies to pay her bills and to the grocery store for bread and roundsteak. She cooked meals that 'none could equal'.

She had a hard time with discipline of the children. We nearly always had our way. She was very conservative, and was slow to spend money on herself. Mom used me many times as a sounding board, regarding my thoughts on a matter. The only time she fussed, was when I waited too long to 'write' while in WWII service.

She always took my side, even over that of the 'teacher'. Because of this, it seemed to create a desire in my heart, not to dissapoint her. I'm sure that I did from time to time, like the nite I came home drunk at 16. I was so sick I slipped out of the house and threw-up in the back yard, hoping that she would not hear me...but she did. She walked out on the back porch and said, "I hope you get sick!". Upon which she turned and walked back into the darkness of the house. Parents: James LANDRY and Rosalee VINCENT.

She was married to George Dewey CULPS on JUL 11 1921 in Pt.Arthur, Jefferson Co., TX. Children were: Wallace Douglas CULPS, Vernon Claud Burnie CULPS , Una Elaine CULPS.
